this is quite the mishmash of a family but by god is it a family so help me

maledic's been changed just a touch, mostly bc i forgot to draw her wings and im keeping it that way bc why the fuck do drocnequi need wings…they got floaty magic…

Maledic — Daughter of Princess Celestia and Discord

Discord is the only lasting draconequus, and he is by no means immortal (though his lifespan is extended, granted). He needed an heir, and the only ponies powerful enough to produce a healthy/magical draconequus egg are the alicorns — otherwise, the cub would be born lacking certain magical abilities — particularly their extended lifespan.
Twilight was considered to be the mother, as Discord and Twilight had been in a relationship previously… Alas, their breakup was far from…pleasent…. and Twilight by this point was happily married and with a foal of her own (and another on the way) — and so celestia stepped forward, willingly. the two had since formed a relationship that some considered romantic, but their special union was insisted on being purely political by Celestia.
Of course, somepony was needed to raise the draconequus cub. Celestia was busy, and Discord was in no way a responsible father. Knowing that Fluttershy was good friends with Discord, and understood fairly well the challenges that draconequi bring. It was not going to be an easy task, and Fluttershy was hesitant at first — but with agreement that Discord could help raise her (every now and then, maybe weekends) Fluttershy agreed, and raised the cub as her own.
Celestia of course, also provides lessons in ruling to her strange daughter, in the hopes that when she grows up she'll be a wise leader (a chaotic one, but not a completely reckless one).

Maledic is a bit of a dreamer. She always seems lost in thought, or bored. For a short time, as a teen, she held a relationship with Prince Summer Ballad (Princess Twilight Sparkle's son). While Summer was committed, and hopelessly in love with her, Maledic was not good for him. She was bored. She played with him, like a little pawn, just to see if she could. None of it really mattered to her.

Summer eventually ended the relationship, and after a long talk from Fluttershy and (somewhat over protective) Twilight, some sense seemed to get through to Maledic. She realised that her actions had consequences, and that she had properly hurt Summer's feelings, and he was a real pony. It made her realise that, eventually, she was going to be responsible for a lot of ponies. The thought terrified her, but it kicked her into action finally. Still a bit ditzy, she aimed to better herself as a princess — and she did, eventually, end up on good terms with summer again.

Treeshy — Definetely of the mane six couples to get together. Fluttershy has never been one to actively seek relationships, and had had them sparingly previously….Then, after little Maledic was dumped on her, she had little time to even try searching. Treehugger was simply how things went. She needed a place to stay, and Fluttershy welcomed her with open arms. She was chilled, relaxing, and kind of funny. The kind of presence Fluttershy needed when raising a chaotic ball of energy such as Maledic… Though she never really became a mother figure to Maledic, she was definetely an influence in some of her dreamy energy.

Fluttershy has the classic pegasus build — small and agile, a small amount of fluff, and very small hooves. there's a hint of earth pony genes (note the ears) that also shows up in the fact she's not a very strong flier…and neither are many of her family (zephyr, her parents).
Treehugger is just a mixed bag. She was adopted ("my only mother is mother nature") and so much of her heritage is unknown, and she shows traits from pretty much every pony breed (cloven hooves, neck fluff, feathery fluff, small ears…. im very deliberate with these sort of things)
