she has like my favourite design of my ocs but i never use her yeet. anyway since i drew an updated discord i figured she needed an update too

being half pony, even when fully grown iris doesnt reach the size of discord or most draconequus. ive got a lil. size comparison here. she's definitely bigger than most ponies but she's not that big a noodl.
draconequus are closely related to ponies, and thus can produce fertile offspring — but it's not easy. ponies simply can't handle the amount of magic and physical strain a draconequus cub brings to their bodies — so when fluttershy was pregnant with iris, she was incredibly ill and frail. everyone was afraid she wouldn't make it.
but thankfully, she did, and lil iris was born. half pony, half draconequus, she still takes on the very distinct noodle shape of her father, but is considerably smaller, and less…. chaotic in appearance? i guess.
although causing her mother a lot of stress during pregnancy, iris has none of the magical abilities her father has. They were more present as a cub, but as she grew older it quickly faded- leaving her with about the amount of magic in her blood as the average pegasus.
anyway if any of my characters were stoners itd definitely be iris. she's really super zen. Claims to love to connect with the earth and animals around her, but uhm. most of the animals at fluttershy's sanctuary find her kinda. odd.
A lot of this zen attitude comes from the fact that actually, when she was little, tree hugger spent a good chunk of time living at fluttershy's cottage. out of a job and out of a home, fluttershy let her stay in exchange for some work in the sanctuary — and, well. she was a big influence on iris' personality and vibes.
in terms of iris' relationship with her father, it's… kinda complicated? for the most part she's his beautiful little daughter he loves with all his heart, but discord being discord, can't help but express some dissatisfaction with the fact his daughter can't perform magic. he loves her, of course, but he has a loose tongue and often lets little comments slip that wear away at iris' confidence. she's subsequently spent many a night in her room, trying to will her paws to generate some kind of magic — and failing every single time. she pretends she doesn't care (and it's pretty convincing), but sometimes the bags under her eyes give it away.
her relationship with her mother is pretty strong. though she sometimes feels fluttershy can't really relate to or understand her insecurities towards her magic, fluttershy is nothing but loving, caring and supportive. though discord is the one more likely to shower iris with gifts, fluttershy is definitely the one who'll give her some much needed affection, look after her when she's sick, and cook her some nice delicious home made dinners. and iris very much appreciates it.
iris' best friend is summer ballad. he's a big dramatic goof, and will always come to iris to spill the latest gossip or drama he's witnessed — or sometimes, they'll just chill together with a bit of music on a sunday afternoon in the garden. iris is good with either, just as long as the vibes be positive.
bird song, summer's older sister, often stops by fluttershy's sanctuary too to help take care of the birds. birdie doesn't like iris at first — she think her hippie vibes are kinda outplayed and boring (and she's gotta be missing a few brain cells if she's best friends with her dramatic brother) — but…. oh no, it's kinda cute…. and oh no, she keeps coming back just to see her. oh no.
birdie has no idea how to express this — thankfully, though most siblings would kinda be grossed out by this situation, summer is nothing but ecstatic and insists she ask her out. birdie is definitely reluctant, and like her mother lacks any ability to express affection — but summer promises to help her.
iris by contrast is very affectionate, so when birdie starts making advances, she's quick to reciprocate. iris can make her into a big dopey mess with just one or two kisses, while birdie mutters something about how she's a dumb stupid noodle with no right to be so pretty.
they have a cute lil bap together — dottie, a timid little thing, with a secret passion for art, and an unbreakable bond with their cousin fruit loop
