Guest Author's Note: "Since we're near the end now, I want to tell a bit of a weird story.
So, when Equestria Girls came out, I was in high school. It had a limited theatrical run, and I wanted to see it because MLP had become my hyper-fixation at the time, but it was nowhere near my home town. So I found the nearest theater, and drove two and half hours to the middle of nowhere Texas to pay exorbitant prices for a ninety minute kids film. I didn't tell my parents, I lied and told them I was going out to my usual Magic the Gathering tournament. I never felt super comfortable telling them I liked MLP. My friend group…also, wasn't too big on it (though they didn't judge me for it), so I went alone. I almost got stranded because I couldn't find a gas station for half an hour. And as we're all aware, Equestria Girls is just fine as a movie. It's not really anything spectacular. It definitely didn't compare to the show at the time.
And despite all of that, that day is one of my fondest memories. I shared an experience with a bunch of strangers who loved the same thing I loved. I did something weird, and kinda stupid, and everything turned out all right. I watched a movie that was goofy and fun and resonated with me. I made friends, however briefly. Equestria Girls holds a really special place in my heart not for the quality of the film itself, but from all of the associated memories.
And that's something important, I think. We all have bad days. Sometimes they hit hard. But…if we can find the things we love with the right people, even a bad day can become a fond memory."
Transcript:MD: Um…Girls, I…I’m sorry. For everything. I wanted everyone to have a good time, and I ruined that. I won’t force you to play this anymore, and I…I understand if you’d rather not hang out with me after tonight.
FS: Apology accepted.
MD: What?
AJ: Ah’d be lyin’ if Ah said Ah’m fine with that meltdown, and we will have words about that, but you didn’t force us to play this.
RD: When I said our game, you’re a part of that, doofus. Just…ya know, talk to us.
RT: It might be in our best interest to play some other games for a while. But I don’t want to completely abandon Rarity just yet.
PP: I know that I had fun tonight, even with the freakout! Now mandatory hugs for all of you!
RT: I can’t stop you, can I?
PP: You can try!
MD: Girls…Thank you.
