my headcanon design for a future Fluttershy! some design notes and specific ideas about her in my AU:
I simplified her hair a bit because I think she'd have a slightly more contained bun if she were to put her hair up.
Her mane and tail are graying at the roots and her fur is starting to lighten a bit, especially around her muzzle.
She possesses elliptical wings, which are more suited for maneuvering through the dense Everfree Forest and avoiding the snapping jaws of unruly predators than for sustained speed. Her fluttery, cautious flight pattern makes her better at navigating through the forest at night than Rainbow Dash, who tends to rely on her eyesight to spot obstacles in time to dodge around them at high speeds.
She runs her own animal sanctuary, partnering with veterinarians and animal rescues to care for animals in need.
She's soft-spoken but assertive; she's spent a lot of time in therapy/working on managing her anxiety and is now arguably pretty well-adjusted.
Since her sanctuary has grown pretty significantly over the years, she now has a couple of apprentices to help her maintain it and care for the animals. Two of her helpers are her niece Verisimilitude and Swift Arrow.
She's very good at sewing, having learned the basics to repair some of her home's wear and tear from hosting dozens of animals with pointy claws, teeth, and talons. As she began to spend more time with Rarity, Fluttershy started to practice sewing more and even picked up a bit of knitting. She's currently working on making comfy sweaters for all her friends.
She still sings in the Ponytones and is working up to performing in front of larger crowds; although she's still not exactly ready to sing in front of a full audience, she's made great strides towards conquering her stage fright.
She's bisexual and a trans woman.
She's married to Rarity. They have one daughter together, Meadowlark.
The flower-shaped hair tie in her mane was a handmade gift from Rarity on their anniversary.
She (secretly) loves romance novels, as does Rarity; sometimes they'll choose one to read together so they can hold their own little two-pony book club.
