Backstory to SvenXMaud:

After leaving Coloratura in Ponyville, the word about how he treated Pinkie Pie and how he was managing Rara spread like wild fire. After returning to Manehatten, Svengallop was stripped of his manager duties and thrown out onto the streets. He tried for months to find a new job, but no pony would hire him after the stories they heard from the music festival in Ponyville. Desperate, Svengallop found his way to the Pie family Rock Farm, and asked for work. (Like Trixie did in the show)
At first, Igneous did not want him to work on the farm, and neither did Limestone.. but Maud stepped up and told him he could work for them, if she could be his boss. Igneous agreed to those terms.
Maud made him work harder than anypony on that farm, and forced him to work twice as long as a form of punishment for how he treated Pinkie Pie. Eventually, Svengallop learned what it really means to succeed in something you do yourself and the hard work put into your job, and it began making him a better pony. Considering he was still disliked by the majority of ponies, he decided to keep the rock farm as a permanent job and got a seperate home on the outskirts of the farm. He became fond of Maud's leadership and came to take a liking to her; leading to many lackluster dates and eventually, a very stoic birth of an unplanned daughter which Maud named "Emery Rose Quartz", after the slate mineral emery and rose quartz named after her mother, Cloudy Quartz, and her pinkish mane. After the pregnancy was announced, Igneous and Cloudy Quartz forced Svengallop to marry Maud.

Emery has a similar personality to Maud, she usually doesn't care about most things; however, she has a very short temper and is easily impatient.. unlike Maud, Emery is not as stoic, and when she's angry — You'll know.

Emery got her cutie mark during Hearth's Warming Eve when she was carving her Hearth's Warming Doll.
One year instead of stone, she carved hers out of a rose quartz instead to fit her name. She carved it so quickly and near perfectly, she knew it was what she was meant to do; and her cutie mark appeared: a stone carved lotus with a rose quartz carved heart — symbollic of the love and beauty of her stone and gem sculptures soon to come.
