At first, she did not believe him. That he was so powerful, he could summon The Nightmare Presence itself, to this plane, here and now? She didn't believe it was possible!
Then she blinked.
She felt her throat tighten and her ears fold flat against her skull. Before her the creature stood. It was not the nightmare she had seen and defeated once before… it was not cunning or deceitful… but animalistic and mindless. Slowly the thing drifted towards her. Seeming to simply unhinge its jaw, The Nightmare gnashed its razor fangs, and saliva began spilling down its chin, as tendrils like blots of ink seemed to jockey for enough freedom to climb from the creature's throat, squeezing past the teeth to enact their wild thrashings. The tendril that had snaked up along her horn flexed, as though it were trying to snap the thing clean off. The creature's mane spilled to the ground like a heavy fog, then immediately lashed out like the antennae of an insect feeling for its prey. The thing let out a terrible, low growl, causing her to make an involuntary filly-like whimper. The creature began to cock its head at the noise, but as its head tilted it started to look up. She watched in absolute horror as the creature continued to move its head like this, until its muzzle was pointed directly upwards… its entire head completely backwards. Then, it tilted its head back down towards her, completely upside down. The things unhinged jaw looked almost like some twisted grin as it leveled its eyeless sockets with hers, spinning its head on the spot back to its original position with a series of cracking, snapping noises that made her stomach churn. Just as she felt the scream caught in her throat come unstuck, and its longest whipping tendrils came within mere inches of her face, she blinked, and in the creature's place, the spirit stood once more.
"Is that enough for you?" he asked coldly, "Or shall I continue?"
She swallowed, shaking slightly…
She was quite done… Quite.
