"Ever wonder what how I did my drawings? Here's a little insight with our model Cloudchaser! Why Cloudchaser? Oh I don't know I just felt like it. It's totally not because I felt guilty about once calling her my favourite background pony but never drawing anyone other than Dash and recently felt like I should because the regrets in my life are getting too big and crushing me day by day and keeping me up at night and…

ANYWAY, I also took this opportunity to experiment with styles.
From left to right, the steps I take to render my artwork:
1. The "Anime style". I start of with simple sketches then sculpt my lines to make it slightly cleaner. Base colours are added to give reference for colour theory.

2. Line colouring. My preferred method of making my lines "disappear". In some cases, I stop here to maintain the effortless kawaii. (Preferably done with paths tool to make smoother outlines)

3. Blending and smoothing. Nothing special. It's basically step 2. but the base colours and lines are being blended together to make it less jarring in contrast. Simple details are added but in minimal quantities. Colour lighting and values are established here but little (if any) attention is paid to contours in this stage.

4. Final Fur. This is the "realism stage" where I render in elements to make the subject matter more realistic. Contour and texture are applied here. Arguably the "look" I most often go with.

This is just a basic breakdown of the process I go through. Sometimes I use each stage as their own style. "
