Honey stretched out on the bed as her brain slowly kicked into gears. The smile from the night before had still not left her face but was a bit shaken once she opened her eyes. Her shining pink prince was no where in sight. Slightly confused she then looked at his pillow to see a single yellow rose, her smile revigorated once more.
He probably had to get up early for some sort of official princely stuff, she reasoned however still not quite 100% sure what those things could be.
Speaking of time, she thought to herself as she glanced over at the clock,
"Oh crab apples!" she exclaimed.
She was late for work!
Quickly she leaped out of bed whilst trying to comb down her mane at the same time.
She threw on her hat that was laying on the bedtable and then sprinted down the hallway towards the kitchen entrance.
Breakfast had already been served at this point and they would now be preparing for lunch. Honey felt slightly embarrassed but still couldn't wipe that smile of her face. So what if she missed the first shift? They'd probably make her scrub all the pots and then forget about it, no big deal. Yesterday night had definately been worth it.
As she rushed through the giant castle she was kind of hoping to see Riposte somewhere, however not even the Canterlot royals could be seen. This was rare as she always seemed to find Cerulean or Celestia anywhere she went.
She didn't think to much about it though as she closed in on the kitchen doors. Before bursting in she could hear part of an disjointed conversation between the two siblings.
"He's the only thing she's talked about for two weeks and now he goes and does this. I swear if it wouldn't get me thrown in jail I'd go down there and smack him right in his stupid grin"
"I just feel like we could have maybe prevented this if we would have been more observant… poor girl"
Just at that moment Honey burst in through the doors, huffing and panting.
"Sweet mother of Celestia!"shouted Pumpkin Cake as she dropped the kettle she was currently cleaning.
Further in the room Pound Cake couldn't help but laugh at his sister's misfortune, then greeted Honey.
"I'm so sorry that I'm late" Honey managed to squeeze out as air came back to her lungs. "But you two need to hear what happened yesterday!"
"Yeah well you can fill us in as you prepare some of that alfalfa for tonight" Pumpkin said as she picked up the kettle with her magic and started scrubbing it even harder than before.
Pound didn't say anything, only glanced slightly at his sister with a concerned look, before going back to peeling apples.
"Oh yes, certainly!" Honey chirped as she skipped to get the alfalfa from the pantry. "Me and Riposte had the most wonderful night ever! He's such a romantic, and a true gentlecolt. My heart just jumps when I think about him. We shared a bed for the first time, oh it was amazing!"
Upon hearing that last part the two twins just stared at eachother, equal parts disgust over the pink stallion and sympathy for the yellow mare.
Honey however didn't notice anything and kept talking.
"Was he at breakfast? Did ya see him? I feel so foolish for oversleeping" She paused shortly "we're out of alfalfa, i'll just run down and get some from the wine cellar"
Pumpkin immediatly jumped up and spat out quickly "Oh well, no need to do that! We'll just use something else!"
Pound Cake chimed in with his sister's slighty panicked tone "Or I could go get it! I need to stretch my wings a bit anyway!"
Honey glanced suspiciously at them. This was strange.
"No, no, I was late I'll go get them"
"Well I don't think we have any left now that I think about it, oh well, you can stay here with me and think of a new recipe we can use" Said Pumpkin.
Honey looked at the back door and the windows, the curtains were down and the door leading out to the back stairs was closed. It had never been fully closed before.
Why didn't they want to have the view over the garden?
It was obvious that they where trying to hide something yet Honey couldn't for the life of her figure out what.
"I am quite certain we do" Her voice a bit more wary and she opened the door and stepped out.
"Honey!" she heard Pumpkin shout behind her.
As she looked down at the garden beneath them she saw him, Riposte. Her heart leaped as she was just about to call out to him, but before she could do so she saw another pony standing next to him. Was that… Rosie? The gardener?
Honey was in a slight state of shock, she walked up to the balcony wall and stood there, speachless.
Below her, in the garden, was her dear prince KISSING another mare. He had offered her a bouqet of pink roses and she was blushing intensly at something he had said.
Honey felt tears forming in her eyes as she could not do anything other than watch.
Pumpkin could be heard running up behind her.
"Don't look Honey!"
However Honey had looked. She knew.
She had only been manipulated, used and now tossed away.
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she could feel the tall unicorn wrapping her hooves around her.
"I'm so sorry darling…"
