Guard: Princess!

Luna: [yawns] Good morning. Anything to report?

Guard: No, your majesty. Everything has been quiet.

Luna: And Desert?

Guard: She is asleep in her room, your majesty.

Luna: Good. We will be checking upon her.

[walks into bedroom and finds her daughter sleeping on the window sill beside her father.]

Luna: How did you-

Dad: Hm? Hey, sweet flanks. I just stopped by to see Desert. Ain't she cute?

Luna: …[sighs] We should be quite a bit more upset right now. What was our guards doing if you could just waltz in like this?

Dad: Nah, they be so harsh on them. I'm a sneaky kitty. [flicks tail]

Luna: [smiles] Of course. How are things back home?

Dad: Hectic. The king is beside himself from the news of the Goddess's demise.

Luna: [flinch] I-I see…

Dad: Oh! I'm sorry, darling. [nuzzles Luna] I keep forgetting that she was… she wasn't just a Goddess to you… How are you holding up?

Luna: …We will soon become the sole ruler of Equestria… A younger Luna would have celebrated such a thing.

Dad: And older Luna?

Luna: she just wishes she didn't have to face this alone.

Dad: Who says you're alone? You have that sister-in-law of yours as well as the goddess of Love. Not to mention me and Dessy.

Luna: You serve thy king of the Desert.

Dad: Yeah, but you will always be my number 1 mare.

Luna: [small smile] You truly are a product of the times.

Dad: I could say the same about you, babe. I think your exact words were something like 'Thou art too young for us.'

Luna: [chuckle] Yet thou failed to take the hint.

Dad: We males know when a mare is into us. [winks] Speaking of mares, how is little Dessy taking to Equestria? Has she made any friends yet? Any boyfriends I have to warn off?

Luna: [deadpan] …She's five, dearest…

Dad: Psh, that doesn't mean anything. I was five when my dad taught me all about how a male seduces a female. Don't let their clumsiness fool you, babe. Those kids are just prepping the filly's for seduction later.

Luna: Like thou? If our memory serves us correctly, thou tripped over yourself over a dozen times as you were courting us.

Dad: Hey, it worked, didn't it?

[Luna picks up Desert and places her on her back. Dad stretched and landed soundlessly onto the ground.]

Luna: Will you be staying long? Desert has missed your stories.

Dad: I would but with how things are right now, I can't stay out too long. The trip home will be long as it is.

Luna: …Alright.

Dad: Hey, now. [Rubs his body against hers, mixing their scents together.] You know I would stay if I could. I promise to come by as often as I
can, alright?

Luna: We understand. Be careful on the trip back, Dearest.

Dad: Always, babe. [Kisses her deeply, her wings snapping out. Pulls back with a loving smile.] I love that about you. See ya, babe! [Jumps out the window and flies off.]

My first drawing of Desert Moon's father. He is currently nameless but he's a pretty chill dude. He is very young but he is an accomplished solider of the Desert lands where Sphinx's live and thrive. He is Luna's consort though it can't be announced officially since his loyalty is to his king. He and Luna met when she was traveling to the Desert Lands for some royal meeting. She had to sneak into the country due to some weird rule about mares being subservient or something and had to disguise herself as a unicorn. She hired nameless as her bodyguard/guide at a bar after he rescued her from some thugs. They bonded on the way there, him showing her the correct way to navigate through the desert and her teaching him fighting techniques lost to time.

Sphinx's worships the Sun, due to how closely tied they are to the Sun for biological reasons. As such, they revered Princess Celestia as a Goddess. Princess Luna was basically forgotten since her sister was raising the Sun and Moon for centuries.

Also, Sphinx's have little to no magic in them other than their third eye. It grants them a special ability but Nameless never tells Luna what it is. Apparently, its a secret that can only be shared among Sphinx's. Though nameless worries about Desert's lack of one.

Note: Sphinx's are basically cats so Desert is half feline. She purrs in her sleep or when she's happy.
