There's a story behind this but I figured I'd save it for Book 2 of The Sirens Remorse. What I can say is that is a veteran matriarch whose pod gave birth to the rare identical twins, sisters who must be blessed and given a protective ward by a Deep One Dirite Shaman. Fishmen who have mystical powers far different from the magic of ponies, harmony, and the likes of Discord and use it to keep them safe until they reach of age. The rest will be detailed in the story once I get to posting it, but I think it is safe to say that the ancient magic is needed for the twins to live beyond one day.
