Still bewildered by what just happened, Grumpy turns his head back to look where Sabe went while still running full speed forward, not exactly watching where he is going. He then faces forward once more only to abruptly attempt to break as fast as possible. Though due to his own mass and momentum as well as the laws of inertia, it's going to take many more meters than what he has to work with to slow down.
What a face! Hahaha! Fun page to draw for sure! Grumpy sure in for a smashing good time indeed.
In the first panel, it may look like he's looking to the left away from anything behind him, but he is actually seeing with his other eye that is out of view, back at the antelopes behind him. Since rhinos can't really crane their heads fully around due to their size, they can only turn there heads a little less than 90 degrees from side to side, so that's why Grumpy looks like he's looking to the left in the first panel. He's really just looking back.
Hope you are enjoying the story so far!
