- Sunspot is the second born and only son of Firestreak and Sunset Shimmer. Gaining the genetics of his father, Sunspot was born a pegasus instead of a unicorn like his mother and sister. This created a bit of a conflict between him and his older sister. She would tease him that he was adopted and not a true brother, which he knew was completely wrong but let it get to him anyways for some reason.

- After a while, Solar Flare stopped teasing him and the two of them actually became pretty close as siblings. Solar accepted she wasn't a pure blooded unicorn and Sunspot accepted he would never be as fast as his father. Sunspot was not interested in becoming a Wonderbolt like Firestreak, however he was interested in magic like his sister. Since he wasn't a unicorn, he knew he could never use magic himself, but he liked assisting her in practices and lessons. He likes flying, he just doesn't see flying as his future.

- Sunspot joined the Cutie Mark Crusaders Club in hopes to help figure out what he really wanted to do in life. There he met his friends, his first crush, Snowflake, and his first rival; Rainboom. Rainboom, like her parents, DOES show interest in the life of a Wonderbolt and the exhilaration of flying fast. Rainboom often calls Sunspot a "chicken", to rile him up for a bit of competition. (Which he doesn't want anything to do with) As they got older, Rainboom got defensive of Snowflake whenever Sunspot was around her, seeing as they are best friends, Rainboom felt the need to protect her. This annoyed Sunspot trying to make her understand that just because they were best friends doesn't mean she could be Snowflake's ONLY friend.
