Whut's this, it's a wild reverse Sapphire! Geddit? Cos when you reverse an 'S' it looks lik-//bricked
Demon AU Sapphire has been around for awhile actually, she was just a random bandwagon I jumped in along with my other art buddies sometime last year…I think? But anyway, it was just a random thing where it was literally just an aesthetic thing that we did. Then of course my weird shower thoughts decided to blow it out of proportion just recently and eagle-eyed watchers saw me made a mention of it in a recent OC post thingy.
So, yes, of course I drew out more art of Demon!Sapphy and even changed the spelling of her name to differentiate the two :'D Then Aki got roped in somehow but honestly, I don't see this AU going further. It was just a break to explore darker themes and a random what-if stuff. This demon trend among my group of friends started because of monochromacat.deviantart.com/ ,so credits to her initial demon pone design. I just took attributes from Musica and applied them to suit Zaffire.
Be noted, that the following stuff might bother some people, especially those who aren't comfortable with dark themes, which includes but not limited to death/suicide. So, reader discretion is advised. Also, if you don't want to ruin your image of these two with this Demon AU, you can stop reading now.
Now for some random notes:
- Zaffire's horn was inspired by the fact that some people twist their hair when nervous/agitated/etc, hence the twisted curled look to it
- Her eyes and markings glow when she's using demonic magic
- Which includes but not limited to, invoking hysteria
- Akiana never lost his arms in this AU, as by the time the 'incident' happened, he was too broken and mad from paranoia to care
- As mentioned in the pic, Zaffire is a Demon of Paranoia. Taking pleasure in driving people mad from paranoia till they eventually lose themselves to insanity or suicide
- In this AU, Zaffire found Akiana when she was randomly searching for her next prey to torment
- She's been trying to break him for centuries by constantly whispering insecurities and what not, "All that power, aren't you afraid to lose control? C'mon you just need a little push. Why control it? No one cares, you hate yourself anyway. Revenge is in order"
- Akiana finally snapped and went on a rampage just to get her to shut up please need some peaceleavemealone
- Zaffire now haunts Akiana as he's just too entertaining to watch, a being made of will? And can bend others to his? This makes my job SO much easier. Make them dance for me little bird…and maybe I'll leave you to your own mind
- Akiana is slowly but surely fracturing, as shown by the damage to his appearance, the only thing keeping him alive at this point tbh is the fact that he's been conditioned to keep thinking that, if he just follows what she says…he'll finally be free of her and the pain will stop
- He can't get rid of the huge gap in his head in his current state. Akiana manifests and sustains his form through his own will power, so if he was mentally sound, any wounds he gets, he can just weave himself back together like nothing ever happened. However, this AU Akiana is broken as he is no longer capable of weaving himself back together and any severe damage he gets becomes permanent
I wrote a snippet of story below of how Akiana got the huge crack in his head. Again, trigger warnings as it goes into some pretty messed up stuff. REMEMBER, IT IS A WORK OF FICTION.
"Wow, you sure are getting better at this, aren't you?" Zaffire commented gleefully, watching as a young girl froze on the spot. Face completely devoid of emotion.
"Haha! You even took away her will to express, damn!" Stalking around her newest prey, the demon eyed the unresponsive girl all while nodding her head appreciatively. "She'll do, perfect candidate to spread some paranoia, wouldn't you think?" She turned to her scowling companion. Akiana did not seem pleased, he never did anyway. His face a perpetual scowl, he really needed to lighten up or at least learn a new facial expression. Shrugging, she stalked up to him and nudged him in a playful manner.
"You know what to do."
Akiana's eyes flickered to the demon and back to the girl. Without a word, he raised his hand, ready to once again condemn a soul against their will. His fingers twitched and red threads formed at his fingertips, hungry to seek out their newest target.
And yet, he hesitated. He could hear the demon growl at his hesitance, but found he could not will himself to carry out the deed. Why, why am I here what's become of me she's young so young what have you done to me I am weak I broke to you she's the youngest I have ever had to but she will leave right useless useless USEL"BEGONE, DEMONS!" a bellow came out to his left. A whistle of wind and a dull thud. Akiana was dully aware that the tip of his horn was broken off and strangely, there was extra weight in his head.
He didn't flinch. He didn't move. For a beat. He did turn his head. Slow and methodical. He found a man staring at him in absolute horror. Pity, this must be her father.
He reached up to feel for that odd weight and his hand closed around a wooden handle. With a jerk, he freed the object from his head and flicked a glance at it. Shifting it to his other hand, he compelled the girl to approach him and passed the axe to her.
Kill.

"Hmmmm that was genius quick-thinking, so much paranoia hahahAHA and to think, I would just have you make her dance and chant along the streets! This is…divine!" Zaffire purred contently to Akiana. They were both secluded in a dark alleyway, watching as a hysterical girl was tied to the stake. The village was in chaos, its people calling for retribution to the tragedy that befell the woodcutter and his family. They were convinced the daughter was a witch. After all, how else could the girl did what she did? They will purge this accursed girl with fire lest she brings destruction to the rest of the village. It was all beautiful to the demon and for once, was content to simply watch as the event played out.
Akiana was just relieved the demon had her attention elsewhere. He finally found quiet. He finally had peace.
For now…
