- Emery Rose is the only child of Svengallop and Maud Pie. After leaving Coloratura in Ponyville, the word about how he treated Pinkie Pie and how he was managing Rara spread like wild fire. After returning to Manehatten, Svengallop was stripped of his manager duties and thrown out onto the streets. He tried for months to find a new job, but no pony would hire him after the stories they heard from the music festival in Ponyville. Desperate, Svengallop found his way to the Pie family Rock Farm, and asked for work. (Like Trixie did)
At first, Igneous did not want him to work on the farm, and neither did Limestone.. but when Maud came to visit, she stepped up and told him he could work for them, if she could be his boss. Igneous agreed to those terms and Maud moved back the the Rock Farm long enough to train Svengallop. Maud made him work harder than anypony on that farm, and forced him to work twice as long as a form of punishment for how he treated Pinkie Pie. Eventually, Svengallop learned what it really means to succeed in something you do yourself and the hard work put into your job, and it began making him a better pony. Considering he was still disliked by the majority of ponies, he decided to keep the rock farm as a permanent job and got a seperate home on the outskirts of the farm. He became fond of Maud's leadership and came to take a liking to her; leading to many lackluster dates and eventually, a very stoic birth of an unplanned daughter which Maud named "Emery Rose Quartz", after the slate mineral emery and rose quartz named after her mother, Cloudy Quartz, and her pinkish mane. After the pregnancy was announced, Igneous and Cloudy Quartz forced Svengallop to marry Maud. He and Maud do not live together, but they are legally husband and wife; so that was enough to satisfy Igneous and Cloudy.

- Emery lives with Maud in the Crystal Caves near Ponyville, but treks back and forth from Ponyville to the Rock farm to keep up with the family. (And her father I guess)

- Emery has a similar personality to Maud, she usually doesn't care about most things; however, she has a very short temper and is easily impatient.. unlike Maud, Emery is not as stoic, and when she's angry — You'll know.

- Emery got her cutie mark during Hearth's Warming Eve when she was carving her Hearth's Warming Doll.
One year instead of stone, she carved hers out of a rose quartz instead to fit her name. She carved it so quickly and near perfectly, she knew it was what she was meant to do; and her cutie mark appeared: a stone carved lotus with a rose quartz carved heart — symbollic of the love and beauty of her stone and gem sculptures soon to come.

- Emery gets along best with her cousins Ash Slate and Chimi-Cherry Cheesecake, however when she goes to visit the Rock Farm, she likes teaming up with her cousin Roxy. Roxy does a great job at selling her Rock and gem sculptures; even if she can get a bit overzealous sometimes and tries to sell them before they're even finished.

- (Please note: She is NOT named after "Rose Quartz" from Steven Universe; she has nothing to do with the show.
"Rose Quartz" was a real gem long before the show existed — Please do not comment about it)
