Her ego is probably one the size of Jupiter, but it won't stop her from putting the biggest smile on your face. Although she was given the chance to go to the pristine School for Gifted Unicorns, she found it to be pretty dull and boring and wanted to instead brighten up others' days. Thus leading her to learn cool and fun light spells for shows and such for other ponies. She has a need to impress and wow those around her and thus sets herself up to be one of the best when it comes to magical entertainment.
