Personality:

Lighting Storm is a deceptive asshole user. Thievery came naturally to Lightning as a child, and he spent most of his childhood picking pockets for a little cash here and there. Because of his charming nature, most ponies don’t suspect Lightning of being a thief, seeing that most ponies believe his cutie mark means he’s good with finances or whatever.


Background:

Thunderlane met Lightning Dust during his time at the wonderbolt academy, something about her loud mouth and cocky attitude intrigued him for some reason and all of the flirting from Lightning Dust didn't help much. The relationship started out pretty good, Thunderlane and Lightning Dust got along well and they enjoyed each other's company but over time their relationship slowly began to deteriorate. Despite their relationship falling apart at the hinges once they were both out of the academy, there was one thing keeping Thunderlane from leaving: their unborn child. Lightning Dust was pregnant but couldn't have cared less, she still drank and smoked and partied just like she always did. Thunderlane begged Lightning to stop for the baby’s sake but she just pushed him away and chose to disappear for a few months, only coming back when she was nearly due.


Lightning Dust gave birth to the baby and then left again a few days later, leaving Thunderlane to care for a newborn infant. Thunderlane didn't know what to do, he had no idea how to care for little kids, let alone a baby. Thankfully Thunderlane had family willing to help him along the way, his little brother Rumble even offered to temporarily move in to help with the kid.


When Lightning Storm was about 3 or 4 he started going to preschool, and Thunderlane was finally able to find a more permanent job instead of just working here and there for some cash whenever he needed it. As he got older it became more apparent to Lightning Storm that his dad was struggling for money, so he began to turn to theft and pickpocketing to get some cash here and there, and eventually he gave all of his stolen bits to his dad in hopes that Thunderlane would be happy to see the extra income. Thunderlane wasn't happy, instead he was horrified at what he saw before him. Somehow while picking pockets Lightning Storm had gotten his cutie mark, his talent was thievery!


Thunderlane spent years trying to train the thief out of his son but it was no use, Stormy had a natural talent and urge to steal all the time. So over time they both just got used to it, seeing that nothing could be done, until Lightning Storm started racing for cash at the age of 10, then everything changed. Lightning Storm rose to the top of every leaderboard and made a name for himself as the fastest colt on the planet, Thunderlane was glad to see his son doing something he enjoyed and left him to do his thing, continuing as normally as possible.


Lightning Storm continued to race for years, it's his main income currently, sadly it was also his greatest weakness because it brought back the mare who had started it all. Lightning Dust came running back home when she found out that her son, her bloodline, had become the most famous racer on the planet. Stormy was suspicious of his mother’s random appearance but still greeted her with open arms upon her arrival, despite not knowing her at all. Thunderlane wanted nothing to do with Lightning Dust, so they never spoke much, and Stormy just traveled between the two.


Relationships:


Lightning Dust didn't make a great impression at first, but over time her and Stormy grew much closer. Dust taught Stormy little tips and tricks to help him fly even faster, and even encouraged his thievery. Thunderlane did not approve but knew he couldn't stop her from getting what she wanted, and chose to leave the situation as if was.


Thunderlane has grown farther and farther apart from his son over the years, despite practically raising Stormy on his own. Lightning Storm loves his dad, but doesnt show it often, instead choosing to try to impress him as much as possible.


Jackson was Lightning Storm’s main target back in middle school, and the victim of many swirlies and lunch money thefts. Despite Lightning Storm being a huge jerk, Jackson was still as friendly as possible to him and tried to reverse the bullying into a friendship over time. Often Jackson would give Lightning Storm gifts and stuff (Jackson’s mom is literally Rarity, the element of generosity) in attempt to keep him happy and maybe even keep him from being a big bully.


Cloud Jumper was Lightning’s main rival when he eventually joined the wonderbolts academy (following in his mom’s hoofsteps), they were known throughout the entire academy as the “Dash-Dust Jr Rivals” since they’re the children of the other famous duo.


Other:


- Lightning Storm has literally no friends, he has lots of rivals but literally no friends whatsoever. This is because Lightning Storm isn't really the most friendly pony in Equestria, and often chooses to take the easy way to get what he wants instead of actually trying to work for he wants and trying to make friends.

- because he has no friends, Lightning Storm often assumes no one likes him, so he takes it out in his racing career to prove his worth, he just has no idea how to be nice, if stormy was just a little nicer he'd probably make more friends.
