Three cheers for some SoarinDash family moments!
1. Growing up, Champ’s mane was a frilly, spiked bang that got everywhere in his face, just like his mom. It may or may not have impaired his vision at times. On his first day of school, he was so stressed out about his first impression, fearing he’d flunk it as a lamoe. Soarin would have none of it, and gave Champ what every cool kid needs; a cool new up do!
Saying Champ loved his mow hawk is an understatement. He’s worn it this way ever since.
And with the addition of a pony tail, he could move about more freely and feel less like a Sheep with a full coat of cotton in the summer.
2. A big part of their relationship, is gambling. Or as they like to call it ‘lighthearted son-and-mother bets’. Lighthearted my foot. These two bet hard, and frequently, and make the winnings out to be ridiculous like getting the whole couch to yourself for the week or some silly made up dare like licking Soarin’s socks.
Soarin now hides all his clothing, thanks to that bet.
Both are pretty sore losers, but they make up quickly afterwards ̶a̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶y̶ ̶b̶o̶t̶h̶ ̶d̶e̶v̶i̶o̶u̶s̶l̶y̶ ̶p̶l̶a̶n̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶i̶r̶ ̶n̶e̶x̶t̶ ̶m̶o̶v̶e̶. However, this game of theirs is more like chess, and it can escalate really fast. But hey, it’s all in good fun ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶s̶o̶ ̶C̶h̶a̶m̶p̶ ̶c̶a̶n̶ ̶f̶i̶n̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶m̶o̶t̶h̶e̶r̶s̶ ̶c̶o̶l̶l̶e̶c̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶D̶a̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶D̶o̶ ̶n̶o̶v̶e̶l̶s̶.
Soarin doesn’t like these competitions and just barely tolerates it by not getting involved at all. “If you want to bet your womderbolt poster, you go right ahead and do so, I refuse to be a part of it.” Of course, he can’t claim the moral high ground here, since he will occasionally bet with Fluttershy as to whether Rainbow or Champ will lose their next bet.
