Windcatcher took Software Patch up to the cloud cities to help her babysit her niece, Nimbus. (Patch found someone to put a cloud-walking enchantment on his rig and he's not taking it off.)

Nimbus really looks up to her Auntie Windy and is fascinated by her parachuting antics. She wants to try it herself, real bad. So when Patch and Windy were distracted, she tied Windy's pack around herself real tight, waddled to the edge of the cloud, and jumped.

Patch just knows that if anything happens to Nimbus, her family is going to turn him into a stain. He jumped after the falling filly without a second thought.
