Saccharine sat awake in her cot, dwelling over what she'd learned that day. The Apple family was so nice, so hospitable. Why, they'd even let her stay in an extra room in their barn after they found out she would have to walk miles home.
The family was in grave danger, and she needed to do something to stop it.
"Hey, hot stuff." Dess cooed at a bat guard.
"What are you doing here, Dess?"
"Just came to see you." She teased. Suddenly, she felt a sharp pang, causing her immediate teleportation back home. Or rather, to Princess Twilight's castle. "PRINCESS!"
"D'aaah!" Twilight fell out of bed loudly, briefly waking up her wife. "Sorry, hon, go back to sleep."
"Okey dokie lokie" Pinkie yawned and laid back down. Twilight teleported her and Dess into the castle's throne room. "What do you want, Dess? It'd better be important, I've got important library stuff tomorrow and I need my rest."
"I felt a magical imbalance. And I know that happens all the time, but this one was big. REALLY big. And it connects to the human world."
"WHAT?" Twilight whisper-yelled as the sun rose out the window. She cleared her throat- "WHAT?" yelling for real this time. She cast a spell.
Twilight, four of her five fellow former element bearers, and Dess, sat in their thrones around the crystal table.
"Twi?" Rainbow Dash raised her hoof awkwardly.
"Hm?"
"Where's AJ?"
Rarity piped in, stopping from brushing her mane. "Her due date was two days ago. It'd be safer for her not to travel, especially since she's having a home birth."
Dess stood up on the table, clearing her throat loudly. "There's more important things right now! Time and the human world are being altered, and we need to figure out who's doing it, why, and if we need to stop it!"
The rest nodded.
Saccharine yawned and walked into the kitchen. "Thank you so much, Applejack. You've been so nice to me."
"Don't sweat it, sugarcube. Want pancakes?"
"No thank you, I've got to go."
Applejack nodded and kissed her wife on the cheek.
"Aren't you supposed to be at the Princess' castle, mom?"
"Naw, it's not safe for me to be out and about, plus, earth ponies can't really do much about magical stuff."
Saccharine froze on her way out the door. "What'd you say?"
