A leftover Bronycon commission I finished yesterday. As I was composing the piece this little story popped into my head.
Rarity patiently sat in her chair and waited for her partner to come in the room. A minute or so later she heard sound of approaching hoof steps on the hardwood floor. They stopped just short of the doorway. After a few seconds she heard the farmpony's voice.
"Now Rarity I wantcha ta remember these thread ain't some fancy hand-tailored creations. There just good, solid working clothings!"
"Duly noted." Said the fashionista.
Applejack walked into the room and straight up to the unicorn. Coming to a stop in front of her the earth pony placed her hands on her hips. "So, what do ya think?"
Rarity made a little, circular gesture with her index finger stating her desire for AJ to do a full turnaround. Her friend obliged her request. completing her 360 the mare asked again.
"So do ya think."
Rarity smiled. "You are absolutely correct that uniform is hardly the pinnacle of design or execution."
The unicorn saw the mare deflate a little and quickly pressed on with her critique. "However. Design and execution alone do not decide whether an outfit is good or bad. Much depends on the attitude of the one wearing it, and I can see the pride, commitment, and sacrifice you've made radiating from you like brilliant light as you wear that uniform. To be blunt dear you look gorgeous in it!"
Applejack perked up at this last comment. "Really ya mean it!"
Rarity smiled slyly. "Oh yes dear! And remember, mares dig uniforms."
The yellow-orange earth pony got a bit more orange in the face. Then the wall clock began chiming 7pm.
"Shoot! We need ta git a going if we're gonna make the 8 o'clock showing of the film!"
She extended her right hand to Rarity. "Shall we."
Rarity smiled and accepted her hand as she gracefully rose from her seat. "Yes let's."
