A Manehattan native, Espress grew up in suburbs of Hooflyn to a family of street-hardened breadwinners, her parents taking on the simplest and oddest of jobs to raise their family of eight little fillies and colts, the rambunctious Espress being the second to last of the bunch.
After loosing family to a life of crime, the mare took her skills she learned through fending for herself, and her brothers and sisters, into the Manehattan Police Department. The wild girl from Hooflyn was duly promoted Sergeant Espress.
