This is the mother and goddess of harmony, Artemis. She, accompanied by her husband, gave to Equestria the royal sisters. How she came upon life isn’t as important however, she often likes to joke about how she grew from a tree though. Artemis harnesses harmony as her magic. Her being represents balance. And although she gave her crown away to her eldest daughter as soon as she could, she was still as loyal and kind of a ruler as anyone has ever seen. Around the time when she first took the crown, she was in a heated debate with another ruler, one who was more stern and fiery. They would later propose a marriage to join forces and rule side by side, even though at the time they had no sort of feelings for each other than putting their nations first. Soon, they fell in love, and had two amazing little alicorn sisters. While her husband would start to raise the little fillies, Artemis found a particular wizarding unicorn who she saw potential in, his name was Star Swirl. She took the unicorn under her wing and gave him all the necessary items he needed to learn and grow as a powerful unicorn. She also saw his thirst and greed for more, and she cut him off as best she could, but it was too late. Star Swirl has corrupted himself and he turned into a powerful demon of chaos, a discord. It was at this point, Artemis and her husband knew she wasn’t strong enough to fight off discord, at least not in her physical form. She was able to banish Discord for 1,000 years, giving her and her husband enough time to hatch a plan. While they would teach their daughters about magic and how to harness it properly, Artemis would start to feed her magic and soul into a tree deep in the everfree forest. Artemis then would tell her daughters about a magical tree of harmony, which wields the magical stones called the elements of harmony, and should evil come their way, they need to find it and harness those elements. When it came time that Artemis couldn’t keep her physical form, she gave her daughters the map to finding the tree, and disappeared happily.


A few notes:

~She lived a long and prosperous life, however the picture drawn is what she’d look like if she was still in her physical form in present times.

~She was the most powerful Kirin, having grown 5 branches in her horn, the most that any recorded Kirin has ever had, royalty or not.

~She values her family over anything, which was the driving force to her leaving her physical form.

~Since she is still conscious in the Tree of Harmony, she is able to choose who can wield the elements.
