Midnight, they say it's called the witching hour because that is when the night is the darkest. Where dark things lurk, and some times where beauty is created. But that night for Luna it was just another night. Well maybe not so much. That night marks a week after Sombra's proposal to her. She of course said yes, and now she kept repeating that moment in her head. Her cheeks felt warm just by the though of it.

She missed him, which felt silly. Considering that she just again met him two days ago. But how could she stop her emotions when she felt so over the moon about it. He was now her fiance' and soon….her husband. Luna starred longingly out her balcony. The windows were left opened and the blinds were slowly blowing into her room. The midnight air felt calming that night.

Luna felt herself nearly soothed to slumber when suddenly there came a firm knock from her door.

"Luna, are you still awake? It's me. I want to talk," said a voice quiet firmly. Luna's head quickly jolted up from her resting manner, she gave a sharp turn facing her door. She knew who it was and her heart felt a bit heavy knowing that. But she got up anyways and began to slowly walk towards the entrance of her room.

In front of her stood Celestia, her sister. But there was something that looked off about her. Celestia, didn't have any of her armor on, some parts of her mane were a mess, and she looked….tired? Her eyes looked slightly red as if she was crying a few moments ago.

"Hey…Lu…I uh" before Celestia could finish her sentence. Luna stepped back and beckoned her to get inside. Without saying a thing Celestia proceeded to trot inside. Luna closed her bedroom door slowly and turned towards where her sister had sat.

It felt alien seeing Celestia in her room, it's not as if Celestia never came into her room before. But this week has been an awkward week for both of them. After Luna broke the news about Sombra's proposal Celestia's reaction was wasn't as she expected. Celestia became instantly quiet when Luna told her about it, she looked shocked her reaction showed pure confusion. Sure it wasn't such a surprise, Celestia had to know what Sombra was to Luna. She had to, she knew. Celestia didn't even congratulate Luna, she only mustered an "excuse me for a moment" and left Luna standing on her spot confused. Her heart ached.

Shaking that moment away fro her thoughts, her vision was now focused on the currently resting Celestia in her room. Her sister had went along and nestled herself nicely on her rug, starring out at the window as Luna had a while ago. Letting out a soft sigh, Luna carefully approached her sister.

"You said you wanted to speak to me of something sister," said Luna as she settled herself on the rug. Celestia raised her head and gazed sleepilyinto Luna's eyes. She blinked and said a low "oh yes". She rubbed her eyes and steadied herself.

"I wanted to talk to you about your….arrangements with Sombra," Celestia's expression wasn't as sleepy as before. She had a fixed stern look on her face that meant business. Luna felt taken aback. What's going on?

"What about it that you'd what to discuss so urgently?" Luna didn't feel comfortable. Celestia cleared her throat.

"I request that you post pone your wedding for a few more years." Luna was completely shocked by this, she was offended even. How could Celestia request
no demand such a thing from her. This simply wouldn't do.

"What do you mean? This is ridiculous! Absolutely mad! The dates have already been confirmed. Why would you" before she could rant away Celestia cut her short.

"There's no need to get so boiled up about it Luna," respond Celestia. Luna felt hate it tasted bitter in her mouth. She was going to have her happiest in a few months and suddenly Celestia comes along wanting to snatch it away.

"There's absolutely every reason to be boiled up, give me ONE good reason that I should agree with what you said," hints of Luna's canterlot voice could be heard. Celestia was about to respond but then she stopped. She was silent.

Luna stood up and stormed towards her balcony to cool off. She took deep breaths and tried to clear her mind, why why why?! That was the only thing she kept repeating in her mind. She couldn't believe what Celestia was saying to her. Luna looked up to the moon. She closed her eyes and basked in the glow of the moonlight. It calmed her down a bit.

Just then her ears caught the sound of quiet sobbing. She turned around, confused yet again. But this time there was an underlying feeling of concerned. She stood in front of the balcony's entrance. There Celestia was, curled into a ball sobbing while she muttered sorrowful gibberish. Luna's eyes widen at the sight of it. Just then, the night air blew once again ruffling the curtains.

———————————

Celestia's head was now resting on top of Luna's back. Tears where still streaming from her eyes. Luna tried her best to comfort the alicorn. But so far all she could do was shuss her down.

"I'm so sorry Luna……it was selfish of me to ask you to post pone the date….I just-I just got scared," said Celestia her eyes red. Luna stayed quiet letting her sister pour out her emotions.

"I didn't want to lose you again," whispered Celestia. Luna though for a moment before she spoke.

"What makes you think that you'll lose me?"

"I-uh……I though that with you getting married and all, that I might lose you. Sombra's going to sweep you off your hoofs and whisk you away from me and that you'll never come back. That'll you'll forget me and I'll be alone….again," Celestia's words trailed off. Luna felt that Celestia's reasoning was a bit ridiculous.

"Why would you think that I'll leave you alone forever? Sure I won't be living in Canterlot with you anymore but I won't deliberately leave you. You're over 1000 years old Celestia you should know that families don't leave each other like that," explained Luna shaking her head in disapproval.

"And I've lived that long to see it happen over and over again, some do leave Luna. That's why I got scared….maybe I got to paranoid but I was overwhelmed with fear of abandonment," Celestia buried her muzzle into Luna's back sniffing away her tears. Luna was quiet once more, that didn't cross her mind in that moment.

"I've felt so alone when you were away, I didn't have anyone that I could relate to or talk to. I tried to find a partner but none ever stuck around long enough. I'm aware that I'm adored by my subjects, but that's not the same as familial affection Luna, without it I just felt empty," Celestia's tears were flowing more rapidly this time. Luna softly shussed her sister down. She didn't knew that Celestia suffered this much from her loneliness. She truly felt that her sister had been feeling a lack of affection.

"…Tia, you're not alone. You never where, I'm not your only family. There's Cadence, Shining, Flurry Heart, Twilight and me. We're all your family, all of us love you dearly," Luna held her sister closer.

"There's nothing in the in the whole universe that can keep us apart, maybe we'll be living apart from each other in a couple of months. But! I want you to know that distance doesn't mean my love for you shall perish. We are sisters by blood and mother always said that "'blood is thicker-."

"'Thicker then water'….I know…..I miss mother a lot Luna," expressed the sun princess. Luna nodded resting her head close to Celestia's.

"I do too," it was quiet for a moment for both of them. So quiet in fact that Luna could hear the soft ragged breath of Celestia. She sniffed a few more times. Luna closed her eyes to rest, midnight has finally passed and sunrise would commonsense in a few more hours. Maybe a short rest would be best for both of them for now.

"….I never had the change to say this to you but……congratulations Luna, I'm happy for you……I can't wait for my nieces," whispered Celestia before she drifted to sleep. Luna chuckled and mumbled a quiet thank you before drifting away as well.

Ouff….I'm sleepy now.
So if there's like any typos I'm sorry.

There was going to be a scene where Celestia shit the crap out of her emotions to Luna while she cried but I'm like not in the mood to write something that heavy and I wanna catch some good Zs

I have mixed emotions with this style of storytelling, I know that there are some parts I could improve on more. But maybe not now. I might re-write this some day when I'm better at writing…who knows! But for now this is all your getting.

I took me like a while to finish that drawing, I'm super SUPER happy with how the drawing turned out~
I like this style of simple shading! Also I know that Celestia's anatomy looks awkward but you know what? I don't really care bout that now :' )

Eyy this is a stupid self plug but, if you like what I do and would like to see more of this type of quality content then consider droping me a tip on my kofi~ (You don't have to of course! But thanks a lot if you do :' D)
All proceeds will go to helping me fund a new laptop so that I can do more better and quality art for you guys!
