He drew in a long breath and reluctantly pulled back the thick, velvet curtain. The room was bathed in a pinkish glow from the lamps hanging above, and adorned in decadent old furniture. She sat in a tall chair in the middle of the room, picking over a deck of cards on her table. An insidious smile curled across her lips upon noticing who had entered her abode.

"Well, well, what brings you here, little songbird?"

"Cut it with the pet names, I'm not interested in you. I'm looking for someone who was last seen hanging around you."

"Oooh, yes," she purred as she shuffled her cards, "I think I know who you're talking about. Such a sweet little thing. Or so you thought. How do you end up tangled up with such characters?"

He narrowed his eyes, "Must be the same force that keeps sending me back to the likes of you."

"We must be guided by the same stars then, little songbird." She picked a card on the top of her deck, "And the stars are telling me you have a long journey ahead of you." She twirling it around to face him, revealing The Fool tarot.
