Picking up where I left off, let’s see what Smokey looks like in action, shall we~
1. Of all her cousins, Twinkle is the only one ̶d̶u̶m̶b̶ ̶e̶n̶o̶u̶g̶h̶ willing to join in on the life-threatening, spleen-bruising activities that Smokey considers fun. Rocky could care less, and Caramel trusts that Smokey knows what she's doing (which she does 65% of the time), but anytime these 'games' are mentioned, Taffy immediately begins to panic. If her pleas and persuasion tactics fail, she typically tags along in order to supervise. Just in case someone is needed to fetch a stretcher. Every once in a while, Smokey and Twinkle will give taffy a break and choose to do something less lethal, such as sculpting, kite flying, and just good ole' fashioned mud sliding.
2. Smokey and Rocky get along like a cat and mouse. Now, that's not to say Rocky's terrified for his life around her, but her bulky frame, her booming voice, and her boisterous ways do somewhat intimidate him. Which is why every time Smokey is within a 10 mile radius of him, he avoids her like her does physical contact.
On the flip side, Smokey tried to connect with her younger cousin, but he's such a wimp when it comes to rough 'n tough play that he just spoils all the fun with his pessimism and logical gibberish. She learned this pretty early on tends to leave him alone, which seems to suit him just fine. Still, even if they don't see eye to eye, Rocky still considers Rocky a friend- just an awkward, weird one that never wants to hang out.
3. Although Smokey loves all fifteen of her family members, her favorite by far and only bestie of the bunch is none other than Caramel bell. Growing up close in age, with only Caramel being older by one year, meant that they were forced to play together as fillies until the rest of the crew came along. Not that they minded. Smokey could be a bit aggressive at times, but it never really bothered firm and forward Caramel.
Due to Smokey’s isolation from the outside world and ignorance of common teen girl rituals such as shopping and makeovers, Caramel takes pity on her and does what she can to educate her friend every time they hang out. Whether it’s showing her the latest magezines, or how to bake a cake without granite pieces in it. Quite a lot of it goes over Smokey’s head, but she looks up to Caramel and if Caramel says this is what ‘other’ mares do, then you can be your flintstone flank she’s gonna do it!
4. When Smokey isn't working with rocks, she spends what rare free time she has playing with, you guessed it, rocks. One such hobby that she has zero talent for and does for hours on end is stone sculpting. Half of her carvings range from abstract versions of family members, to the lopsided tree outside her window, and everything in between. As for the other half, no pony has the slightest ideas as to what they are, even Smokey herself. Despite her unearthly statues doing little more than prove that sometimes practice doesn't make perfect, Smokey's happy with her mutated creations, regardless. the only downside is that Limestone makes her keep her finished products locked in a shed. When Smokey asked why, the only answer she got was ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶i̶r̶ ̶l̶i̶f̶e̶l̶e̶s̶s̶ ̶e̶y̶e̶s̶ ̶w̶h̶e̶r̶e̶ ̶s̶t̶a̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶r̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶r̶o̶u̶g̶h̶ ̶h̶e̶ they were taking up space.
5. The rock farm is a barren wasteland where plant life is scarce and animals even scarcer- aside from your run-of-the-mill, ‘I will survive judgement day’ kind of insects. However, there is one creature who has managed to thrive along side the Pie family. That scavenger is none other than Basalt, a solitary western diamond back rattle snake with an obession for sunbathing and reigning champion of his and Smokey’s staring contests. Smokey stumbled upon him just as he poked his head from his shell and they’ve been friends ever since.
Don’t get me wrong, Basalt is in no way Smokey’s pet. He lives independently around the homestead, choosing freely to sunbathe on a rock with a perfect view of Smokey working and keep her company. Sometimes, he even slithers on to her back for a free ride and as her trusted confidant, he listens quietly as she rambles off to him about her feelings and stuff. If a stranger were to ever stumble upon her with Basalt, they’d find themselves face to face with a very angry rattle. Smokey, however, has never been intimidated by venomous snakes like Basalt, which only adds to her own reputation of intimidation.
6. Butterfly’s, on the other hoof, well…..you can see for yourself.
