Based on a doodle that I made: Spike, as a Vozonid student, wondering about some battle between a gryphon and a dragon.
In Vozolaz, the locals would think that Spike does not look very much like a serpentine dragon. They would assume that he would be a chubby raptor boy with a deformed tail.
