Hype for the holidays is real.
Pearl Shine is carrying a "Christmas Lantern" or for us Filipinos, we called it "PAROL", an important symbol of Christmas in the Philippines.
It's been a tradition to hang a Parol outside houses, government institutions, schools, and other public places, this was inherited tradition way back the Spanish era. The word "PAROL" came from the Spanish word "Farol" meaning "lantern". Parol are star-shaped lanterns that often have light bulbs inside to make them illuminate at night, these kinds of lanterns are made by delicate capiz shells. But there are also some traditional ones that are made of paper and sticks or banana leaves/bark or other sturdy reeds or dry grasses and plastic.
Whatever the design, the materials used or size your Parol is, what is the MOST important is it's symbolism of Hope, as like the original star that shined during the first Christmas. The Parol is a reminder of God's love to the whole mankind by giving His beloved Son for our salvation.
