She had a daughter and husband. She married happy. She was living happily. Then the curse was placed upon her and for the sake of their safety….she had to leave them. Applejack had spent the last year of her life, somewhat happy. Joyful. Now that was taken from her. She walked through the front door of her house, tired. She wanted to sleep. Wake up and find out it was all just an awful dream. Sadly, it was all too real. She sat down in the middle of the floor, on the verge of a breakdown. She had to leave her family….for her family. Caramel pushed through the door not moments after Applejack.
“Oh, hi honey. You’re home. Did you get the elements? Is everything alright?” He asked, curious. Applejack heard the quiet snores of her daughter and assumed Caramel was holding the child. She couldn’t face them. Not with this news.
“N-no, Caramel. It’s not alright.” She spoke, both spite and sadness in her voice. Caramel tilted his head in confusion, unaware of what his wife meant.
“What do you mean?” He questioned, stepping forward. His concern struck Applejack with guilt. While the curse was out of her control, she couldn’t help but feel responsible in some sense. She was trying all she could to not be angry. It was Princess Celestia who was supposed to keep watch over the Elements of Harmony. And she failed. It was her fault that she had to leave her family.
“There was this….I don’t know, figure, I guess. She….she cursed us.” Applejack said, barely above a whisper.
“What?” Caramel’s eyes sharpened in both confusion and worry.
“I….I have to leave y’all. She….she cursed me to leave ma family and marry another. If I don’t….she’ll kill y’all.” Applejack sputtered out, trying to hold herself together. She had to be strong for them.
“You….what?” Caramel spoke in surprise, unaware of how dire the situation actually was. Applejack, already frustrated with the events of that day, turned and snapped.
“Gosh darn it, Car! I gotta leave ya! I gotta leave Ginger too! I don’t want to, but I got to! I got to do whatever I can to protect ma family!” Applejack’s breath was uneven as she felt the tears begin to form in her eyes. Caramel stepped forward as Applejack’s head fell. “Because I don’t….I don’t got a choice, Caramel. I have to. But I don’t want to….” Caramel stepped forward, putting Ginger Gold in one arm and pulling Applejack into his chest with the other. With the sudden embrace, Applejack broke. Her sobs echoed throughout the house as her family ran into the kitchen, trying to comfort the ruined mare.
