Since I plan on introducing you guys to a new Sugarverse next gen this week, here’s a double headcanon of a couple of performers!

TROUBLESHOES

-Even as a colt, Troubleshoes was larger than most of his peers. He was long-legged and awkward, usually bumping into things and making a mess. His parents tried their best to keep is spirits up and encourage him to just be himself, but what what left of his self-esteem left the moment he recieved his cutie mark.

-The day he got his cutie mark was just like any other day, full of clumsy happenings. During recess, Troubleshoes tripped over a small rock in a tall patch of grass and went tumbling. He ended up breaking a good portion of the playground equipment, all the while trying his best to avoid doing any more damage, which just caused more damage. The classmates who weren’t angry of the mess he caused laughed at him, pointing their hooves and making Troubleshoes feel like an absolute fool. He immediately ran home, crying the whole way. It wasn’t until after his mother helped him clean up and calmed down that he noticed the upside-down horseshoe on his flank, making him believe the one thing he was good at was getting into trouble.

-Troubleshoes spent most of his life staying away from town square and populated areas, always creating a scene whenever he was around others. He moved away from his parents and those he knew in shame, and ended up at the edge of Appleloosa in a small shack. Like most ponies, Troubleshoes craved friendship and connection with those around him, so it wasn’t too long before he wandered into town. The day he did was one of the biggest events he had ever seen, which was the first rodeo of the season.


-The moment Troubleshoes saw the excitement and entertainment of the rodeo, a fire ignited in the stallion. He wanted to be a part of the action and under the spotlight. Ponies being paid to be silly and foolish? That was what he was made for! But he hesitated and went back to his shack, wanting to think things over before making any rash decisions.


-The more the stallion took time to think over what he wanted to do, the more Troubleshoes desperately wanted to be in the rodeo. He ended up following the rodeo as it traveled over Equestria, trying his best to keep his distance while getting to see the fun. By doing so, he ended up causing more than a bit of trouble and mayhem by his natural clumsiness and he ended up becoming troublesome. Word spread that a giant stallion was ruining every rodeo he attended and being more than embarrased, Troubleshoes fled back to Appleloosa and hid out in his shack once more, having “earned” the title of outlaw.


-Once the Cutie Mark Crusaders cleared Troubleshoes’ name, he gathered up the courage to be the best rodeo clown he could be. Those that shamed and booed him before now cheered and laughed. He finally felt accepted and purposeful, which is all he had ever wanted. He travels with the rodeo like he did before, but this time as a member instead of a viewer.


COLORATURA

-Being the daughter of a couple of simple shop ponies, Coloratura’s cutie mark came as quite a surprise when she came back from Camp Friendship. The two were happy for their little filly as she marveled at the colorful mark on her flank, but deep down the two were worried that she would be one of the many that would shoot for the moon and fail. Her mother and father were concerned that while she was talented, she wouldn’t be talented enough. Because of the fear they had for their child’s future, the two of them manipulated her and emotionally beat her down, hoping that she would grow up and decide to follow a stable career path. Because of this, Coloratura had rather low self-confidence and constantly questioned if she was enough. But as she grew, she dug deep into whatever courage she had left and continued singing wherever she could.

-Applejack was a big source of confidence for Coloratura. Even though they didn’t live near each other, Coloratura and AJ made sure to stay dedicated penpals through childhood and into adolescence.

-Because of the hurtful words of her parents growing up, Coloratura was easily swayed by many people when she decided to move to Manehattan in the spur of the moment excitement. She often worked for way less than she should have, barely getting by in her cramped apartment. When she was discovered by Svengallop, Coloratura was singing at a cabaret charity event, as she was known to do from time to time. Sven immediately locked his sights on her and manipulated her into signing a contract with him, where she didn’t think reading the whole thing was necessary.

-By the time Coloratura had made a name for herself and had become “Countess Coloratura”, Sven was practically rolling in money. She didn’t really care for the crazy amount of bits she earned per show she worked and regularly donated her part of the earnings to good causes while Svengallop hoarded his share. Even though she was charitable with her money, her manager had turned her into a rather cold-shouldered diva. He claimed that the ponies who hate her were similar to her parents and were only interested in dragging her down, which made her close herself off further.

-By the time Applejack exposed Svengallop for who he truly was, Coloratura was completely dependent on him. She could barely decide for herself, even if it came to something as simple as picking outfits or backup dancers. Rara had to completely rebrand herself and did so successfully with the help of Applejack, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie. Countess Coloratura’s legacy died and Coloratura’s legacy was born, causing excitement that built like wildfire through both old and new fans.

With Coloratura being rather similar to Applejack when it came to their interests, it wasn’t much of a shock when Rara accepted her farmer friend’s invitation to come see the rodeo that had come into Ponyville for the week. Because of the two growing apart over the years, they had missed out on a lot of stuff together and wanted to right that wrong. With the help of Rarity, Coloratura was slightly disguised and able to be less likely to draw attention. With Applejack helping Coloratura understand the technicalities and terminology of the rodeo, the two had a wonderful time.

The two mares went to the rodeo every day that it was in Ponyville and towards the end of the week, Applejack had a chance to introduce Coloratura to her rodeo friends, which included her friends Caramel and Troubleshoes. Rara chatted with everyone and praised their entertaining performances, while Applejack’s rodeo friends couldn’t help but fangirl over Coloratura. Of all the rodeo ponies who swarmed her after working hours, Troubleshoes hung back quietly. His timid nature after being such an energetic performer caught Coloratura’s eye, but ultimately glad that he wasn’t one of the ponies who ran at her. When Applejack coaxed the big stallion into meeting her mare friend, Troubleshoes ended up tripping over his own hooves and knocking heads with Rara. Troubleshoes immediately apologized, turning into an embarrassed and rambling mess. Coloratura, aside from a surprised yelp as she was struck, stayed quite and gentle in an attempt to let him know that she was okay. He backed away, which led to him knocking over a trough and stepping his hoof into a bucket, successfully getting it stuck. Applejack apologized for her friend, knowing he couldn’t help but be clumsy. Coloratura shook her head, thinking nothing of it. If anything, she felt a connection to him when it came to such low self-esteem.

Coloratura and Applejack regularly visited the rodeo after that, whenever it was close to where they lived. Rara slowly tried to build up a friendship with Troubleshoes, knowing he could probably use a buddy who accepted him for who he was, on and off stage. The stallion couldn’t believe that she had come back again and again to befriend him and eventually they became rather close. Like Applejack and Coloratura, the two became penpals and wrote to each other regularly while they both traveled for work.

While the friendship moved very slowly, the two grew fond of each other and knew they wanted to pursue a more romantic relationship. They felt comfortable with each other, where it was together or apart. Troubleshoes and Coloratura accepted each other as they were, seeing past the clumsiness of the stallion or the popularity of the mare. Trouble saw through Rara’s fame, seeing her as she was rather than the pop idol she had become. And Coloratura saw through Trouble’s accident-prone nature, knowing it took a lot of strength to perform when you don’t always believe in yourself.

For Troubleshoes’ sake, the two had a small and quiet wedding after many years of dating. The few mutual friends that attended were Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Carmel, and the Cutie Mark Crusaders. It wasn’t long after that Coloratura announced she was pregnant and when they finally had their first child, Troubleshoes was more than terrified that he would hurt the baby. But with lots of practice and baby-proofing the house (for both Troubleshoes and their daughter), Trouble grew a bit more confident in his new role as a father.
