Backstory: Born in Canterlot to a fairly wealthy family, Moon Heart had everything she could ask for. A painting set, a telescope, and a library of her own. She was pretty much like another unicorn named Julia, but Julia was more into physics and chemistry, while Moon Heart was into arts, literature, and astronomy. When Moon Heart was younger, she was curious about a lot of things, especially the mare on the Moon. She had always wanted to study the moon and stars, which is something she studied for. After acing a quiz on the moon, she eventually earned her cutie mark. She made a lot of friends at school for her goodhearted nature, but she was often shy. She even made friends with a devil pony named Kiki after standing up to a group of bullies who teased her for what she looked like. Kiki and Moon Heart eventually became best friends, as they had a lot of things in common, and they often went on field trips together. This friendship lasted until one day, when everything changed. When Moon Heart was out of her library to get a few things, Kiki and her younger twin brothers Pyro and Arso were sneaking around Canterlot to see if they can get some food to cook. While Kiki was the mature one, the twins, however, were goofing off, so when they walked past Moon's library, one of the twins threw a match close to the library, unaware that the match had been ignited. After Moon Heart was finished with her shopping, she smelled smoke which she thought it was coming from her house. She ran home to find only Kiki, standing besides her destroyed library, while the twins ran off. Moon Heart thought that it was Kiki who burned her library down, so she called off their friendship and moved to Ponyville.

Eventually, Kiki returned to her coldblooded nature after the ending of their friendship. Moon Heart developed pyrophobia after the destruction of her library which she called home. After moving to Ponyville, she was hesitant to make a lot of friends, and only made friends with the ones whom she trusted. However, she still managed to keep that kind and calm personality that she had before. When she was not studying, she would often listen to Charming Rocker's music to cope with her issues (She began listening to him when she moved to Ponyville), but it wasn't until when she met him at a concert which she eventually fell in love with him. She kept her romantic feelings toward Rocky to herself, but she would offer to help him out in song-writing and stuff (They did get to know each other more during this time). One day, Rocky got really stressed out during his tour, so when Moon Heart tried to help him, he lashed out at her, which caused her to feel upset and embarrassed. She thought that she wasn't going to trust Rocky again, but after Rocky wrote her a song to express how truly sorry he felt, she knew that she would forgive him because she showed her romantic feelings to him in response to his song. Each day, whenever she and Rocky are together, their love gets stronger and stronger, no matter what their differences are, or how far they are apart.

While Rocky is in her heart, Moon Heart knows that there is more to life than just being together with him. Whenever they are apart, Moon Heart would still study, hang out with friends, draw and paint, etc. as a way of her life.
