Looking back at this episode, particularly the last panel… That is not a friendly Rainbow Dash when she orders the gang to show Canterlot how to party Ponyville style. That is a Rainbow Dash that knows exactly what she's setting into motion.
Transcript:Rarity: <roll> 21 for Bluff.
DM: Upper Crust and Fancy Pants don’t seem… outwardly suspicious.
Rarity: Mmhmm. Aha. Yes. How about some hors d’oeuvres? I feel absolutely famished.
Fancy Pants: I concur! I shall accompany you.
Rarity: That’s really not necessary…
Fancy Pants: It’s no trouble, milady.
Upper Crust: <sigh> Hors d’oeuvres do sound good about now. Just about anything to liven up this boring assignment. I’ll come along too.
Rarity: Uh, okay… I go?
DM: And they follow.
Rarity: …Fiddlesticks.
Applejack: Okay, I’m lost. What exactly’s the problem?
Rarity: I have completely miscalculated. I was certain Fancy Pants was a thief like me, but… now I can’t be sure! Is he real? Does he already know? I simply don’t have all the facts! I’m on the verge of either blowing my cover, landing in jail, or both. I need to know more. I need some way to put pressure on them, to see how they react…
(beat)
Rarity: How would the five of you like to attend the Canterlot Garden Party?
Pinkie Pie: Ooh! But isn’t it a frou-frou invite-only thing?
Rainbow Dash: Why should that stop us?
Twilight Sparkle: But wouldn’t us being there be a problem?
Rarity: Just say you don’t know me. I’ll be fine.
Rainbow Dash: I don’t think you realize what forces you’re messing with here. Do you really, REALLY want us to crash this party?
Rarity: I do.
Rainbow Dash: Then reap the consequences.
