More headcanons! Kinda stuck on which direction I want to go with my verse, so I calmed myself down by drawing something else (: And since I updated Sunset, thought I'd update Trixie too~
Notes below
~
- Trixie's full name is Bellatrix Lulamoon, but she goes by Trixie. Her full name doesn't really resonate with her, but she doesn't mind being referred to by it. Both of her parents are magicians and she quickly picked up on a few tricks herself. Show performance was her main job until she started working at Twilight's school beside Starlight.
- Her fathers were some of the first ponies in Equestrian history to have had children through the gender-change spell, which had recently been developed for same-sex couples at the time. It was still in its earliest stages, though, and the one they used wasn't perfect. Trixie was born with a birth defect, which damaged the magical cortex connected to her horn. Her horn grows perfectly fine throughout her life, but her magic is very limited. Simple spells are a huge challenge for her, and unfortunately, the condition only worsens over the course of time.
Trixie gave up on trying to fix her horn when she was just a filly. She'd accepted the hard truth, but eventually saw it as more of a challenge. After all, now she couldn't hide behind unicorn magic to perform her stunts. Had she worked more with her horn when she was younger, though, her usage of it would've improved. She doesn't mind too much, and besides, Starlight's a great magic teacher regardless.
- She doesn't have cloven hooves, which she probably gets from her dad Big Bucks. Jackpot became a mare to carry Trixie, but it's still pretty rare that she looks basically like his double. She has the traditional unicorn tail though!
- Unicorns are usually pretty tall. They pride themselves in their appearance and structure, and height definitely plays a big part in their egos. Trixie is really short though, which is quite odd considering Jackpot is a tall unicorn and Big Bucks is a record-tall earth pony. It doesn't really bother her- the smaller she is the easier it is to disappear, which is quite handy for her disappearing act.
- For a big part of her childhood, Trixie was very self conscious about her inability to use her horn. The envy and desire grows deeper as she gets older, which leads her to steal the Alicorn Amulet, an ancient relic that's supposed to give any creature untold powers. It did, and for a brief moment, she was happy. But soon enough, she wasn't exactly in control anymore. The Amulet held a power over her.
- All ponies hold at least one pony race's genes dominant in their DNA. True unicorns (unicorns that have only been descended from other unicorns) hold strong unicorn magic and very obvious visible traits that differentiate them from other pony races. A pony born from a unicorn and earth pony couple has the potential to hold both race's magic, but at half the skill as ponies of True descent. They could be born with a unicorn horn, have the ability to perform certain spells, while also carrying some earth pony strength in their blood.
Trixie was pretty unlucky when it came to genetics. Her earth pony DNA is probably less than 5%, and her unicorn magic is already faulty.
- Trixie was once the "insecure wannabe magician," but she's most definitely grown over the course of time. Her best friend Starlight played a huge role in getting her back on track.
- She's not paired with anyone in my verse yet, but she has two children, fathered by an unknown batpony. They're twins and look almost nothing like her. More on one of them (Glowstik) here:

Not too much on Trixie, but that's because I didn't change much from the original headcanon I had on her (: I love Trixie's colors, she has one of my favorite color palettes in the show!
