I used to fast-forward through this scene when I was a kid — in retrospect I don't know why, because I was never really one of those 'watching from behind the sofa' kids (the only other scene that I couldn't tolerate was the ROUS fight from The Princess Bride — although when I come to think of it, both scenes involve the creature whimpering pitifully before it dies, so perhaps I was just empathizing with the beasts). Nowadays the only problem I have with it is that Luke throws the rock to drop the gate instead of levitating it, which seems awfully mundane for a Jedi Knight.
