Sludge used to be a champion heavyweight boxer back in the day. But one day, he was defeated in the championship which really hurt his ego. He quit boxing after that, and it was downhill from there. After five years of heavy drinking, he made so many bad choices. He divorced his wife, got evicted from his cave apartment, and went flat broke. Now, he roams Equestria trying to survive, and he'll do anything, even kick a baby dragon out of its home, just to live the good life again.

I don't know why, but I wanted to give Sludge a backstory here. Probably to theorize why he acted so mean in "Father knows Beast." I made him younger and slimmer here. Well, slimmer than his current form that is.
