Bonniecorn is the direct creation of Fabula. She is the goddess of Creation and Origin. She made the model for all sentient creatures that walk on Gaia. Sriptures and texts say she molded each species out of clay and painted them with her magical feathers.

She is also known in the mortal world. Quite well actually. She is essentially the highest figure on the deity totem pole that any mortal has ever met face to face. Which brings me to something, I think is a nice tidbit about her. She's a god and isn't really that sentimental about much. But the reason behind her name "Bonniecorn" is becasue the very first time she visited the ponies of Gaia, a stallion approached her in her (somewhat) mortal form and called her "a bonnie young lass". She was kinda flattered and also intrigued. Never before had she really been called anything, and here a child of her creation gave her three names. She like the name Bonnie and everypony just rolled with it.
