Artist's description from DA:Dragon wings don’t always grow in size as they do, so they have to molt every couple of years for a new pair of wings to match their increased size. Sadly this means they have to go a couple months without wings on occasion. Spike in right now is currently nearing his third molt.

The show gave my spiky boy wings at some point and has forced me to concoct some sort of explanation to why he doesn’t have wings in my canon so heres what I've come up with.
