In my headcanon, gargoyles in MLPFIM can turn themselves into stone to protect themselves or to sleep and preserve their bodies and such. Since people seem to refer to Scorpan's species as a "gargoyle", I figured I'd take the popular belief that gargoyles are statues or can transform into them and apply it to the lore I'm coming up with for "Flurry Heart's Story". This is what Scorpan looks like both with and without his royal gear and the Staff of Sacanas.
