Ignatz is a studious pegasus from a merchant family settled in Alliance territory. He was sent to the Academy on his father's wishes to become a knight, and feels he must obligate to this duty. H greatly enjoys painting and art, often getting very passionate on the subject. He will sometimes sneak off to practice in private away from others. While he feels he is not suited for knighthood, he still remains optimistic and is very friendly. He has been friends with Rapheal since he was a foal. His cutie mark of a palette and brush reveals his natural skill at painting.
