Rainbow Dash out of the blue decided to visit her parents for the weekend. Not without a reason though. She wanted to get out of Ponyville and as the Wonderbolts are on a break, this was the only way she could.

However, she still couldn't sit still, so she took to a night fly around Cloudsdale.

During her flight she saw a small bar. She landed as she thought alcohol may help her get her minds of things. But she would have never thought who she runs into in the door of the bar. Lightning Dust.

While a 'Washout' like incident didn't happen again, they met numerous times, just to be back to bickering and throughing insults. Somehow the Washouts always ended having a show at the same place, at the same time as the Wonderbolts had. Rainbow knew it was on purpose, Lightning was trying to take away viewers from them. And today from all days she wasn't really in the mood to deal with her. That was her initial thought, but with Lightning pushing enough buttons, they still ended up with their usual routine, trying to one up the other with their accomplishments.

Until Lightning Dust suggested she's a better drinker than Rainbow. Of course she wasn't about to run away from a challange, not realizing what could this lead to.

Didn't take much round for the competition to turn into just the two of them talking about this and that in a drunken state. From what went down at the academy to about their own teams. Which lead to Lightning mentioning she's in Cloudsdale to train the Washouts. Without thinking Rainbow started talking how she came back to get her minds of things. To get far away from her problems or rather from a certian pony as she could.

And than, thanks to the alcohol and all the built up frustration, with tears in her eyes she spilled everything to Lightning. About Pinkie Pie dating Cheese Sandwich, thinking her anger is just about her pranking buddy not spending as much time with her to realizing her true feelings towards the pink pony.

"You're such a loser, Rainbow Dash."

Rainbow didn't really care to fight back at that insult, though she did mutter a faint and weak 'shut up'. But than suprisingly Lightning continued.

"But so am I."

She brought up how even though it's been years she still couldn't stop blaming Rainbow for being expeld from the Wonderbolt Academy, even though she's doing much better now with the Washouts. She suggested to just continue on with the drinking and just let all the stupid and loser things out.

While their time at the bar ended after a short while, their time together continued on the streets of Cloudsdale. Rainbow took to Lightning suggestion and continued rambling about, pretty much everything. Saying stuff like, how much an idiot she is, than turning that around and saying that the actual idiot is Cheese and she could kick his flank any day. How much she meant it and how much of it was the alcohol speaking only she knows. Lightning couldn't help but laugh at all of those remarks, even when time to time Rainbow pointed out how much she doesn't hates her.

"Me too, Dash."

So how did they end up waking up next to each other in Lightning's hotel room? Who knows, definitely not them. No full recollection, detailes are hazy. It was probably one thing lead to another kinda situation.

When Lightning woke up next to Rainbow, she imediatly knew what happened. Rainbow not so much, took her a solid minute and an idiot insult from Lightning to realize the situation.

"We'll never spoke of this again. Got it Rainbow Dash?!"

"Hate to say it, but I couldn't agree with you more!"

And so they did. They got themselfs in shape and went their seperate ways. Rainbow returned to her parents home, told them she spent most of the night flying and than spent the rest on a cloud sleeping. Lightning met up with the rest of the Washouts and when they asked her why was she late for practice she just gave them a death glare. So they never asked again.

Rainbow Dash and Lightning Dust really did never speak of that night ever again and started to see each other less. Until Washouts stopped having their show next to the Wonderbolts all together. Rainbow had no idea why could be and while she did wonder about it, after some time she just stopped. Not her business and she not cared about Lightning to figure it out. However, she did not know that night could come back to hunt her in the future.

Alt title easily could be, 'I'm about to make things complicated'. And more than one way, as the future will show.

So much text, so much writing it took. It probably would have been easier if I just wrote 'Rainbow Dash and Lightning Dust accidently met, got drunk and had a one night stand' But I do like to tell more of a story and I feel like it helps getting me better at writing (fun fact, this was almost a two page long writing).



Also, I would have never thought a one night stand story is going to be part of my AU. Maybe following the Winning Pony seires rub onto me. XD



Also also, totally unrelated, but I'm kinda suprised I didn't see any RainbowXLightning stuff over the years. 'From enemies to lovers' always been such a beloved shipping trope in fandoms, I'm kinda shocked. Maybe this one is an exception. Or maybe I just never came across one, who knows~
