Backstory: He was born in Cloudsdale as a unicorn, but his family moved to Ponyville upon the discovery that he was a unicorn, and since he was a baby and couldn't fend for himself despite being a unicorn, his family was scared that they could potentially lose him (since usually Pegasi, Alicorns, and other winged creatures walk on clouds, and the only way for non-winged ponies to walk on clouds is some magic spell or something similar). He is Grace's younger brother, and Balla Bambina's older brother. Bambina was born a year after Feather was born.

Of course, Feather barely had any memories of Cloudsdale other than the fact that he was born there. Throughout his childhood, he began to have a tickling obsession, mostly because he was constantly tickled as a baby, and he enjoyed the sensation of it. He was also very feminine, as he preferred to have stuffed animals and tea parties than play sports or video games, which was something he was teased for.

Despite the teasing and bullying, it didn't stop him from enjoying the things he liked to do. There was also another hobby that Feather Dust enjoyed: Performing. He was so inspired by all the plays that he had seen, that he had no choice but to perform his heart out. Since then, Feather Dust had been getting some recognition for it, and growing up, he had been fancied by mostly mares around his age.

Feather Dust often looked up to Grace as his hero. He still remembers the time when they were younger, Feather Dust had bruises all over his body because he was playing outside when he accidentally tripped over a large rock and fell. When Grace was notified of her brother's injury, she gave him some bandages and an ice pack to heal his wounds. After some reassurance to him that he would recover soon, Feather Dust was amazed to see Grace earn her cutie mark in front of him. This made Feather Dust be so close to Grace ever since the event, but that didn't mean he didn't care much for Bambina, as he was thought to be a role model for her.

Feather Dust was also a good friend of tomboyish Clover Sparks. Despite his social awkwardness, Clover admired him just for being himself. Most of the time, they would hang out and play until either sundown, or when they got so tired that they fell asleep so close together. They rarely had arguments, but when they did, it was usually something so petty and trivial, and easily solved by themselves.

He went through a temporary depression when one day, he and Bambina were victims of an attack, but they survived. It was dark, and Grace was just finishing up with helping other ponies for the day while Feather Dust and Balla Bambina followed along with her. Suddenly, a group of older ponies began to harass Bambina and while touching her in places that made her uncomfortable. When Feather Dust stood up for his sister, one of the assailants attacked him back. Dusty and Bambina were about to be killed by the criminals when Grace scared them away, saving her younger siblings. Due to the emotional trauma the attack had on him and Bambina, Feather Dust avoided contact with Clover and acted cool and aloof towards others. While Feather was depressed about the fact that he had been a victim of crime, Bambina, however, suffered much worse, and Grace blamed herself for not protecting her siblings sooner.

However, Grace realized that she still had the potential to help her siblings, even if there weren't enough resources. So she helped out with her siblings and parents before she could help out other ponies again. Feather Dust, while genuinely remorseful for how he acted towards Clover, has felt a sense of hope again, and he has mostly been performing as a way for him to escape his past. However, his tickling obsession remains a secret, and it will ever be for years to come.
