Both have a crush that may or may not be requited.
Both are also somewhat naive and still very child-like. Most of the other Peanuts seem to have grown up a bit, partaking in more philosophical conversations with each other. Sally, to me at least, seems more innocent and I see a lot of parallels with her and The Descendant's depiction of Spike (which is my favorite).
