The comic opens in Canterlot where Spike and Twilight are shocked when Princess Celestia gives them a task to explore the unknown locations in Equestria. However, an uncomfortable Twilight Sparkle does not have the attempt to do so. Once Spike and Twilight left the Golden Oak Library, Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Rarity came by and pack all the items for her such as books and toiletries. Twilight tells Spike that the duo are going to a place that ponies have never been before, much to his joy. Back in Canterlot, all the ponies wants to follow, but Princess Celestia bans them from doing so as Spike and Twilight only experiences the test. As the duo depart, black clouds covered the night sky and heavy rain starts to fall, causing Spike and Twilight to get soaking wet. Once the duo searches for shelter, Spike and Twilight jumps into the cab of a moving train to get themselves dry. Twilight shakes her body to dry herself, but the water sprinkles straight to Spike. All of a sudden, the duo spotted wooden crates that says TO NEW YORK CITY written outside. Given the fact that Spike and Twilight has never heard the name New York City before, Twilight realizes that the Everfree Forest has a portal barrier that makes the duo end up going to the human world.

The train stops at a red light and proceeds when the light turns green. Spike and Twilight decided to leave the train, but none of them are able to do so since it's still raining outside, causing the duo to sleep inside the train until the next morning. As the sun rises the next day, Spike opens the doors while the train is still moving and the two glimpse a view of New York City. As the train crosses the bridge, Spike and Twilight left the train, soars high up into the sky and see a view of New York City's tall buildings. As they soar down the streets, a curious Spike and Twilight spotted tons of human beings and modern-day transportation such as cars, buses, trucks and construction equipment. Given the fact that human beings do not fly or use magic, Twilight continues to soar down until the crowd gets her attention from down below and snaps photos with their mobile devices. However, due to being distracted by the crowd snapping photos of her using mobile devices and not looking ahead, Twilight crashes straight into a hanging sign and falls down to the middle of the intersection, breaking her nose in the process. Even worse than that, all the buses, cars and trucks coming towards Spike and Twilight swerves to the left or right in order not to crash straight into the duo and resulted a massive traffic jam in the middle of a junction, so the duo quickly left.

As the duo got to safety, Spike and Twilight started to leave, but a male police officer who controls the traffic stopped the duo from escaping for disobeying a police officer. He thinks that Spike and Twilight are children wearing Halloween costumes, but no. When the officer asks the duo their home address and names, Twilight denies that none of them wear Halloween costumes and came from Ponyville. Given the fact that the officer hasn't heard the name Ponyville before, he says that a weird location like Ponyville does not exist. However, his duties are cut when one of his colleagues witnessed a supermarket robbery, so he is on his way. He claims that some people out there causes more chaos than the duo themselves and leaves afterwards by warning them not to cause further chaos or they may get caught again. This situation leaves behind a confused Twilight Sparkle that the duo traveled far and has no wonder why the police officer hasn't heard of Ponyville. As Spike and Twilight continues their stroll, their tummies began to rumble as none of them have dinner since last night, so they pulled over to the pretzel shop and buys two pretzels that costs $10. Twilight gives the seller 10 bits, leaving behind a confused pretzel man thinking that he works too hard due to all the golden coins Twilight gave. As Spike and Twilight are exhausted taking a stroll all day, the duo sat on a wooden bench nearby and eat their pretzels until a little blonde girl wants to snap pictures with Twilight, sits down next to Twilight and snap photos with her. Even so, two women also snap photos with Spike as well until he got kiss marks on his face, so Twilight gives him a cloth. Spike wipes the lip marks off his face and warns Twilight not to tell Rarity about it.

As Spike and Twilight continues walking around the city, Spike accidentally bumped into a trio of naughty boys until one of them got angry and yells at Spike for not looking ahead. When one man with a yellow headband yells at Twilight for wearing a Halloween costume, an angry Twilight Sparkle berates thinking that she wears a Halloween costume. Twilight apologizes for not looking ahead, but they started to threaten the duo until Flash Sentry comes to rescue them. As the black-skinned man is about to smash Flash with a wooden stick, an angry Twilight zaps the criminals with her horn and snorts like an angry bull, causing the trio to ran off in terror. As Flash thanked Twilight for rescuing him, the crowd who caught her attention gathered around. Flash asks the duo's names, but Spike and Twilight escaped from the crowd until he realizes that Twilight dropped her Elements of Harmony book, so he keeps it until he returns it to Twilight. To make matters worse, a swarm of human beings fight to keep Spike and Twilight as their pets, but much to her discomfort, she and Spike ended up flying to the top of the building in order to remain safe. In the meantime, a man with a blue polo shirt and black hair wanted to return a purse to a woman who accidentally dropped it, but no luck. Twilight decided to help the guy return the purse to the woman who left it by accident, much to his joy. As the woman driving her 2000 Honda Civic EX Sedan stopped at a red traffic light, Twilight knocks the driver's window, the window opens and she returns the purse to the woman itself, much to her joy for returning the purse, saying THANK YOU to Twilight.

As the sun starts to go down in New York City, Spike and Twilight visited a flower shop and the male guy with the blue polo shirt returns her bags. He stops the duo from leaving his flower shop after travelling too far and the sun is going down, so he allows Spike and Twilight to stay in his apartment which is upstairs. The flower shop owner happens to be Tommy, so the trio introduce themselves. After Tommy closes his flower shop, Spike and Twilight took another view of the city from the window until Tommy allows the duo to enter his apartment. Only to find his apartment in a messy condition, he opens the door to a bedroom where the duo can sleep. Spike asks Tommy for gems, but does not have any, so Spike asks for potatoes instead. Twilight unpacks all of her books, only to be aware that the Elements of Harmony book is missing, leaving her dismayed. In the kitchen, Tommy is preparing mash potatoes for the duo until Twilight lost the Elements of Harmony book. He won't allow her to do so as New York City is exceeding 8 million people, 35 miles and it will probably took her forever to do so. In the meantime, Tommy even invites Flash Sentry for dinner as well, so he manages to return the Elements of Harmony book to Twilight.

As nighttime falls in New York City, Flash, Spike, Tommy and Twilight are having dinner together and she is relieved that Flash looked after her Elements of Harmony book before any idiot steals it. When Tommy asks Spike and Twilight how the duo ended up in New York City, Twilight explains that she and Spike went through an invisible barrier in the Everfree Forest and jumped into a moving train that leads the duo to New York City. Given the fact that Tommy hasn't heard the Everfree Forest before and coming from another dimension, Twilight adds that Equestria is a land where she and Spike came from, filled with alicorns, Earth ponies, unicorns and pegasi. Also, a concerned Tommy isn't dreaming after all. On TV, the news shows that the pretzel vendor received 10 bits ($500 to $1000) and researchers are unable to claim its heritage so far. Given the fact that Tommy hasn't heard bits before, Twilight explains that bits are Equestria's currencies and due to safety concerns, Flash discourages Twilight from walking outside as there are some people out there who attempts to torture the duo. A worried Twilight fears that everypony may start a search and rescue operation and she is unable to use the Elements of Harmony to protect both Equestria and planet Earth, but she knocks her head by the ceiling and landed onto the chair. Tommy suggests Twilight to take on a tour of New York City to study more and go to the library, much to her joy. After Flash left, an excited Twilight Sparkle cannot wait to explore the library tomorrow until Spike is unable to sleep properly due to her loud voice. Afterwards, she went to sleep.

As the sun rises the next morning in New York City, Twilight brushes her teeth, took a bath and started to have breakfast. In the dining hall, Spike is eating Kellogg's Apple Jacks Cereal for breakfast, leaving a shocked Twilight thinking that the cereal Spike eats is Applejack. Spike gives Twilight a cereal taste until she feels a hint of cinnamon and apples. In the meantime, Tommy left his room sweating because he is uncomfortable as the city is hot outside, so he informs Spike and Twilight that the heat outside is about 98°F (equals to 36.67°C), but Twilight says that she does not feel the hot weather outside due to the air conditioning running. Given the fact that Spike and Twilight hasn't heard the word AIR CONDITIONING or CLIMATE CONTROL before, Tommy explains that the air conditioning is a machine that controls the temperature from inside the building. Flash will be in Tommy's apartment in just a few minutes, but Tommy says that he runs a flower shop and not a grocery store. An excited Twilight is so delicate to see Tommy's flowers, but he says that human beings do not eat flowers. While Tommy is running the flower shop and waiting for Flash to arrive, Spike and Twilight decided to watch the show Powerpuff Girls on TV.

In the living room, Spike and Twilight are watching the 1998 TV show Powerpuff Girls and imitates the trio in the show itself. Once the show ends, Tommy enters the room and tells the duo to meet one of his pals. Noticing that Flash will be in 20 minutes, Tommy insists that Flash will be arriving soon. Inside the subway train, a stressful Flash Sentry is uncomfortable that the train is too slow. In the meantime, Tommy introduces Spike and Twilight to his girlfriend and niece. Much to the duo's joy, they even hug Twilight softly. Once Flash arrives, Tommy instructs his two women to keep an eye on his store while the four are away, much to the women's agreement. Afterwards, Flash, Spike, Tommy and Twilight took a tour of New York City with his 1967 Cadillac Deville Sedan.

Once the duo enters the Cadillac's rear seats, Spike and Twilight feels comfy inside the classic car itself. As Tommy started to get behind the wheel, the four wears seatbelts, hit the brake pedal (automatic cars only), pull the column shifter down for Drive (typically found in old American cars), releases the parking brake and starts to drive by hitting the gas pedal on the right. In the rear seats, Spike is opening and closing the windows with a switch on the door (common feature in today's cars) and Tommy advises Spike to close the window due to the cold air conditioning operating inside the car, leaving a shy Spike. As Tommy stops at a red light, tuner youths in a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII stopped next to Tommy and asks him to race, but not attempting to do so due to safety concerns. As the Lancer Evo speeds off once the light turns green, the same police officer that Spike and Twilight encountered yesterday stops the car for exceeding the speed limit.

10 minutes later, Flash, Spike, Tommy and Twilight arrives at the New York Public Library, much to her joy. Flash gives Twilight a few tips such as disguising themselves as a filly and pretend that the duo are children wearing Halloween costumes, leaving an annoyed Twilight. Once Tommy drops Flash, Spike and Twilight off, he continues to find a parking spot and upon entering, a female security guard keeping the library bans Flash from bringing Spike and Twilight into the library due to being animals, but he denies that the duo are just children wearing Halloween costumes. Disguising as a little filly, she came here to read books, much to the guard's agreement, allowing Twilight to enter. In order not to get caught by the people around the library, Flash advises Spike and Twilight not to breathe fire or use magic. An excited Twilight is happy to be in the library until the people around shushed her for raising her voice.

After Flash, Spike and Twilight picked up every single book, she started to read one by one. Outside the library, Tommy uses the public phone to call his girlfriend Crystal and informs that the four will return home late at night. She also wants to buy groceries as well before Tommy comes home. Back inside the New York Public Library, Flash, Spike, Tommy and Twilight took 13 hours inside the library and Tommy purchased a veggie salad for Twilight. Flash bans her from using magic, but instead, uses her mouth. After spending all day, Spike suffers a cramp in his hand and the four of them left the library. Twilight is distracted by the languages book next to her, but was forced to leave afterwards. After leaving the library, the four went to Central Park Carousel. Flash carries a heavy load of notes in his hands and Spike yells at Twilight for spending 13 hours inside the library, but she disparages Spike in order to make Princess Celestia proud of her. All of a sudden, she spotted a moving circle with horses inside, leaving a horrified Twilight thinking that the ponies are impaled to the poles, but no. Instead, the ponies are made out of wood and it's a carousel or merry-go-round to replicate real ponies, designed for human amusement. At the same time, Tommy returns from the nearest McDonald's Ice Cream Shop with 2 cones of ice cream in his hands just for Spike and Twilight. Only to find Spike and Twilight on the carousel itself, Tommy apologizes for dragging Twilight's tail while leaving the library. Before leaving the park, Twilight takes a chance to snap pictures with the children around her.

As nighttime falls, Flash, Spike, Tommy and Twilight returns home. When Twilight asks Flash his home address, it's located on Bath Beach, Brooklyn, just 20 minutes away from Tommy's apartment. After dropping Flash, he suggests Tommy to take Spike and Twilight back to Equestria, but the duo are not sure where the portal is located, so Flash will come by the next morning. On the way back to Tommy's apartment, Twilight explains that she missed her pals in Equestria, despite her love against both worlds. Once the duo got home, Crystal cooks some mushroom soup for Spike and Twilight. Noticing that the duo are returning to Equestria the next day, a heartbroken Crystal and her niece will miss Spike and Twilight, so Tommy invites Flash to bring the duo home. Once Spike and Twilight got back inside the bedroom, she packs up all her books and slept afterwards.

The next morning, Spike, Tommy and Twilight are waiting for Flash to arrive, but it is deemed that Crystal lives a few blocks away from Tommy. Meanwhile, Flash is stuck at the Brooklyn Bridge in his 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS. The radio broadcast in Flash's Camaro reminds him and the people surrounding him to drink lots of water and apply sunscreen as the weather outside may exceed 98°F (equals to 36.67°C). To make matters even worse than just that, Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge and the Williamsburg Bridge are also flooded by an ocean of stationary cars, leaving behind a stressful Flash Sentry. At the same time, two boys: Joe Daniel and Mack Stuarts, driving in a 2006 Ford F250 Super Duty XLT Extended Cab with 2 unsecured barrels of oil in the truck bed are stuck in the traffic as well.

Back in Tommy's apartment watching the news about the weather on TV, Spike explains that the pegasi in Equestria controls the weather such as the rain, snow and rainbows. To make matters worse, the oil barrels on the F250 Super Duty started to caught on fire due to being under the hot sun for too long, but none of the boys have a fire extinguisher. Instead of calling the fire department, the whole crowd started to ran off in terror due to the fire at the Brooklyn Bridge. When a curious Flash spotted the people running away and screaming in terror, an explosion happened ahead of Flash, so he scampered away as well.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) orders all police officers to get to the Brooklyn Bridge due to a massive car explosion happening, so they quickly ran to the scene. The news on TV reports that a massive vehicle explosion happens at the Brooklyn Bridge and the firefighters won't arrive for another 20 minutes due to heavy traffic, leaving a terrified Twilight. In order to stop this, Twilight flies out of Tommy's apartment through the window and straight to the Brooklyn Bridge. Crystal, Spike and Tommy warns Twilight not to do so since it's too dangerous for her, but it's too late.

Back at the Brooklyn Bridge, the NYPD officers leaves behind a clear path for the firetrucks to get through until one of the police officers spotted Twilight flying up into the sky, much to their awe. In the meantime, a little girl is trapped inside the car, so her dad tries to rescue her, but no luck since the car's door got jammed and it won't open. Luckily, Twilight lands straight onto the bridge and yanks the car's rear door open, setting the little girl free. Once she escorts a man and his daughter to safety, Twilight helps the others and gets the people to safety. She shields herself from the fire with her horn and rescue other people as well. After hours and hours of rescuing, she ended up rescuing Flash too, but his right leg was crushed, causing him not to walk normally. To make matters worse, fuel is flowing out of the fuel door of a W204 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, causing that car to explode. Flash and Twilight shield themselves and he almost falls off the Brooklyn Bridge, so she came and rescue him. Twilight's heroic actions are amazed by the crowd, the firetrucks arrive on time and they managed to put out the fire on time. Although Twilight manages to get Flash to a safe spot, she falls down unconsciously.

As Twilight ended up shifted to the hospital, the doctor reports that Twilight only gets a few scratches on her body. Only to find Spike sleeping next to her, the nurse informs Twilight that Crystal, Flash, Tommy and a few children came to visit, much to her joy. A joyful Spike is grateful that Twilight is not dead and in goes the other survivors who visited her as well. The visitors places bouquets of flowers around Twilight and Flash comes in as well, barely healed. A vet doctor sees Twilight's abilities in zapping magic and she explains that the duo are from another dimension. Eventually, she realizes that the stone says M180 on it, indicating the milepost sign mentioned by Tommy. The doctor says that Twilight will leave the hospital in just a few days.

Outside the hospital, a woman named Jennifer who is a newsreporter spreads the news about Spike and Twilight showing up at the Brooklyn Bridge, rescuing 93 people who are trapped on it. In addition to Twilight being treated at the hospital by the staff, witnesses says that they spotted the duo gliding down 34th Street a few days back rather than children wearing Halloween costumes, besides all the children who wants to snap pictures with her. Both Daniel and Stuarts are arrested ahead of the New York City Hall while escaping, forced to pay the damage and thrown to prison for a month. After Twilight left the hospital, the media snaps pictures of her and Tommy declares her as New York City's hero. Back at Tommy's apartment, he has contacted the local Amtrak station and the milepost is located far off the east of Connecticut, near Wequetequock Cove. After Spike and Twilight packs up, Tommy drops the duo at the Grand Central Station, located not too far from his apartment. A police officer gives Twilight the tickets back to Equestria, much to her joy and Crystal, Flash, Spike, Tommy and Twilight boards the train to Connecticut while the crowd standing behind the yellow line waves goodbye to her.

Once the train arrives in Wequetequock Cove, Connecticut, Crystal, Flash, Spike, Tommy and Twilight gets off the train and the duo finds a yellow barrier that only Spike and Twilight can pass and not the humans in order to protect Equestria from further harm. Before Twilight leaves, Crystal, Flash, Spike, Tommy and Twilight snaps their last photo and after waving goodbye, Spike and Twilight enters Equestria again. After Spike and Twilight got back to Ponyville, the Mane 6 reunites with each other again after 2 days of absence and back at the Golden Oak Library, Twilight shares photos about her exhausting journey in New York City and even bring back notes from the New York Public Library as well. Of course, Spike is not sure when he and Twilight will return to New York City again.

Fade to December (specifically Christmas) back in New York City, many people buy plushies of both Spike and Twilight, including Tommy. When he met Crystal standing near the George Washington Bridge, he gives her plushies of both Spike and Twilight for Christmas, much to her joy. The comic ends with Twilight writing a letter to Princess Celestia about her epic journey across New York City.
