Sharp led Spike into his bare and scarce cave den, quite literally a hole in the wall. A small patch of moss and leaves against the cave wall serving as a sleeping mat was all that furnished the cave.

"Just put your stuff anywhere." Sharp offered.

"Uh, thanks." Spike took a seat on the wall across from Sharp, who had taken a seat across from him. "So, whats going on, last time I visited, you could see dragons flying about everywhere, but when I got here, youre the first one Ive seen."

Sharp sighed, A month, thats how long its been since the top of spiral mountain began erupting with this, weird green lava. No one had ever heard of it, but none of the elder dragons seemed to concerned about it. On the surface, it was no different than the normal lava except the color. He looked down, But then dragons started going missing. At first we assumed that they just moved away, we dont keep in contact with each other very much. But you start to notice when it gets quieter than usual, and suddenly, theres barely anyone around.

Sharp continued, Two weeks pass, the elder dragons held a council. Turns out that at least half of the dragons living in the ridge had gone missing, all ages and types, even one of the elders. It was worth investigating if it had anything to do with the strange lava at Spiral Mountain. A squad was assembled to check it out. They didnt return.

"So what happened then?" Spike asked.

"Most of the remaining dragons fled fearing the worst. The rest stayed for their own reasons; pride, laziness, hope. But even the most stalwart have packed up for safer mountains." Sharp replied.

"What about you, arent you worried?" Spike asked.

"Actually," Sharp chuckled, "I was just leaving, theres nothing left for me here, so Im heading out, maybe up north." Sharp laid back onto his make shift bed, "I was just setting up camp when you came along, thought itd be nice to have some company."

"Oh sweet," Spike started to unfurl his own sleeping bag, "At least this trip wont be a total loss, get to actually spend some time with another dragon at least." Spike dug around in his backpack pulling out a small pouch of baked goods, "Here I brought along some topaz crusted cookies, want one?" he offered to Sharp.

Sharp looked at it and Spike puzzlingly for a while before reaching out and taking it. He smiled back in hesitant appreciation.
