Ever since Equestria shifted dimensions, the Cutie Mark Crusaders have been jumping at the chance to try their hands in the fighting tournament. Nobody really saw much of them after the initial transition, but it was very obvious when they showed up in the tournament that they weren't bringing their normal childish attitudes to the table.
Applebloom in particular, stepped up as the big boss of the Team, and is usually seen rallying the other members of the Crusaders. She is insanely cocky, and will only fight when she needs to.
Her second belt strung around her hips detaches and becomes a 'Slash Whip'. She's also proficient in punching your face in.
