During the events of the season 4 premiere Jade is removing weeds from her makeshift home in order to enter it, when suddenly she is surrounded and attacked by the vicious plants that are overtaking Ponyville. Not knowing the cause, she assumes she has angered the forest and promises to never do it again. From this point forward she treats the forest as if it is a living being. Since the incident and her making "amends" with the forest, things have gone very smoothly for Jade, which in turn strengthens her belief that the forest is conscious.
