Obsidian is a gentle soul, especially when he's glomping his lovable stuffed plushie given to him as a gift from his "aunt" Fluttershy. But don't think that he is a pushover. Thanks to his dragon dad and pony mom, he can handle himself quite well in a pinch, but in a more humane ways rather than fighting.

Obsidian has learned that there are other ponies that treat him differently just because of what he looks like, but despite that, he doesn't let that get him down. Just like his mom and dad have taught him, he is selfless and chivarious, always attemtping to try to do the right thing. Others may think that he is a bit of a doormat, but he is not—not by any stretch of the imagination. He knows when to stand his ground and say no.

One thing that he has a weakness of is gems, like his father. But thanks to Rarity, he's learned to control his wants.
