Quick Bread Bio: Thistle Chaser is the energetic and optimistic daughter of Braeburn and Roseluck. Just like her dad, she is absolutely in love with Appleloosa and is fiercely loyal to its people, ways, and culture, and that of the neighboring buffalo. On her mother's side shes acquired a shrewd business sense and a love for poetry, illustration, and flowers, of course flowers. The business sense lends to Thistles ability to read people, picking up on subtle clues to gauge their sincerity in most situations. Its a cynical discernment her father lacks. She can pick out the foxes in her hen house to put it her way. And little, innocent, vulnerable Appleloosa seems to be a fox beacon.

But this is the one not optimistic thing about her. Thistles thing is unbound spirit and optimism in the way that she is unquestionably devoted to Appleloosas citizens and their well being.

Occupation: Thistle Chaser dreams of becoming part of the city council but for now she helps run Appleloosas mail line. They also pull passengers since the mail line and passenger line are the same. Appleloosa is still small but it is actually the largest settlement in the San Palomino desert. Sometimes even the Thunder Runners (Appleloosian nickname for buffalo) will get mail, its a real treat to try and keep pace with them.

Other notable skills: Thistle Chaser is a survivalist. The result of injuries and ambushes, knowing how to survive out in the wastes is imperative for the job description. If an unfortunate pony gets lost out there, she knows how to track and is commonly part of the rescue team.


Note: I got the name from what is probably my favorite childhood book series ever 'The Books of the Named' by Clare Bell. There's a character in it called Thistle-Chaser who bears no resemblance to mine, but while I was contemplating possible names by looking up desert flowers, thistle popped up, and the connection just happened.
