I decided Trixie should have a mom, so I drew this. Yep.

Anyways, my personal thoughts in the matter are that Trixie's mother is probably a successful illusionist who gets commissioned to do big events for wealthy folk who — for instance — might decide they want to have a summer themed party during winter, or maybe they're entertaining foreign visitors and want the setting to be more exotic looking. And so on.

She's a kind mother to Trixie, but is so busy with work that even when she's at home she's kinda lost in her own universe and doesn't really pay much attention to her daughter. Lonely Trixie hasn't got any friends because she works harder and harder to get recognition, unintentionally alienating other ponies in the process with her over-the-top acts and stage personality. To top it all off, Trixie knows she'll never be able to measure up to her graceful, accomplished mom, and feels like she can't hope to get her own name out there as long as she's stuck in her shadow.
