Early morning crept through the window above Eventide, betraying that she’d been working all night. The potion she’d been making just didn’t seem to want to work… a potion of speed that she’d been asked to make, were the ratios off? Was a step missed somewhere along the way? She just wasn’t sure, but hopefully this last one would do the trick and work, so she could finally be done and get some rest.

Keeping her eyes closely on the alchemical test-tube in front of her she reached with a hoof to grab a nearby bottle of ingredients and tipped a little of the grey powder inside into the brew. With a poof it turned from pink to white, bubbling froth and then settling down. It worked! Just how the potion was supposed to look, she thinks to herself with a nod of satisfaction. All that remained was to test it out and then bottle a few vials to keep.

With a tentative sip she tastes the potion, intensely sour with a rough gritty texture and an after-taste like licking a rock. Not at all what she had expected, a grimace crossing her face as she sat and waited for the magic to take effect. An odd sort of tingling began to find its way into her hooves, but she couldn’t quite place it as she pondered on whether or not this spell would actually make her any faster…
