TICK TOCK

Backstory:

Tick Tock was born to a clockmaker and his jewelry-making wife. He was named after his father’s clock store, ‘The Tick Tock Stop’. At a young age he was interested in clocks and soon was able to fix them with ease. But one day he got very sick — he had a heart abnormality and he was going to die of heart failure if nothing was done. Tick Tock’s father took him to all of the best doctors in town (including Dr. X-Ray), but no one could fix his son, who was getting worse and worse every day. During the last few days of Tick Tock’s life, Tick Tock’s father realized he knew how to fix his son all along. He could fix any clock — how was a pony any different? Clockwork could do wonderful things… So, with some tools and a lot of metal and gears, he set to work creating his son a new heart. Eventually he decided he should just create complete set of clockwork organs so that none would ever fail like real ones. He convinced his wife to watch him install the clockwork organs into his son on an operating table, but during the surgery Tick Tock flatlined and was pronounced dead. Tick Tock’s mother was overcome with grief and fled the room — just before Tick Tock’s father inserted the key (which was crafted by his wife in her jewelry shop) into Tick Tock and brought him back to life. But even though he was technically alive, Tick Tock’s mother was terrified of him, claiming that he was no longer her son, just a machine and an abomination. She died a few days later from grief, and Tick Tock’s father, in anger and sorrow, killed himself and left his now clockwork son an orphan. He was later found by Candle Wicked in his father’s clock shop, dutifully winding and fixing the clocks his father had so loved. Wick brought him to Artbeat, who basically adopted him as a little brother.

Personality:

Tick Tock’s a bit of a melancholy kid. His own clockwork insides (which are constantly ticking audibly) are both a wonder to him and a painful reminder of his parents. He fixes them himself whenever they start to jam by inserting the key he wears around his neck into his chest, which causes the front of his body to open up and reveal all the clock parts inside him. He still fixes clocks in his spare time, but, being a colt, he does not need to have an actual job yet. He is very sweet and polite to others, especially Artbeat, who took him in. (And if that wasn’t precious enough, he has a Trottingham accent.) Though he has his moments of sadness, he is trying his best to be strong about his whole situation and continue to smile. He likes to talk to his friends and learn all about them. He also enjoys reading books and watching movies with Artbeat.
